Photographer’s Note
I shot this image on the coastline between Ballyvaughan and Kinvara in north county Clare recently. I saw this isolated Whitethorn tree leaning over a characteristic Burren stone wall. The tree is leaning in this way due to the force of the winds over many years. Since the prevailing winds in Ireland blow in from the south west, trees like this usually lean in a north east direction, parhaps useful to know if you get lost!
PP: Cropped a little in Picasa, adjusted contrast, sharpened, and framed with Photoshop.

Hello Tim,
What a surprising tree? I've already saw trees with deformation due to the wind, but this one is the mos transformed !
Good composed and very good colours.

Yes it's winding there. I saw the same kind of trees on the island of Aruba in the Caribbean and it's very useful to know where to go when you are lost.
Interesting composition.

Great subject. I like your decision to include so much sky: you really increase that feeling of lonliness.

This is an excellent landscape picture which gives the feeling of desperation, seeing that tree struggling to stay in place. Well done.

hi tim
this place seems very calm and peaceful when the wind is not blowing, I like the density of the sky which make a sad mood.
well done

Hi Tim
Nice picture and lovely colours. It reminds me of my last (and unfortunately only) trip to Inishmore and County Clare where I saw that kind of landscapes and trees.
Thanks for sharing, it makes me feel like going there again soon ;o)

Somehow this seems to be a classic motif - the lonely and strange tree on a field..Beautiful, simple and effective inspiring also creative.
All the best in 2007,dear Tim

Hi Tim,
Impressive pov, sharpness and colors. The dramatism of the sky and the position of the tree relative to the clouds is an amazing aspect of the photo.
Congratulations.

Hola tim!
You know, when I was in Ushuaia, down on the south of Argentina, we saw the same kind of tres, all bend over because of the force of the winds... it was so incredible to see!!!
the compo is good, the sky, the bend tree and the green grass, well seen!
thanks for your comments! and I whis you Happy New Year to you as well!
Saludos, Paula.
