Kylemore Abbey
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| Kylemore Abbey, set in the Connemara mountains is a beautiful neo-Gothic Castle. Built by the English industrialist Mitchell Henry in 1868, Kylemore Castle was sold to Benedictine nuns fleeing war-torn Belgium in 1920 and the Castle became an Abbey. It's now also a girls boarding school. It's striking in Connemara beacause the area is surrounded by trees, a rarity in the area which is known for its start, windswept nature. |

I've been to some Irish castles some years ago (too bad it was so many years ago, so I didn't have a digital camera yet), and they are magnificent! You got it perfectly in this picture, with a wonderful reflection on the water.
Wonderful image, based on the deep contrast between the lighting white of the castle and the deep green of nature around.
The castle seems a ghost... fastantic atmosphere, thanks also to the reflections in the water.
Great job, well done!

I have the same shot of the abbey at the same location you have. Thanks for sharing.
Hello!
I like the composition of this photo. The lines of the "castle" roofs and the bank of the lake intersect approx. in the 1/3 spot of the frame, center of the castle is in the second third, so overall the composition is good. The branch in the right top corner works well as a framing element.
The colours (light castle and dim green forest) also look great.

Hi Brian!
Your photo is great! I like the green colour in all shot and the contrast with the Castle and his reflection on the water. I've been in Ireland some years ago, and I remember his wonderful landscapes and the very nice people.
Cheers!
Erinn.
