Photographer’s Note
This is Ballymun, Dublin. A town that has seen it's fair share of hardship over the years. From high unemployment to drug addiction. But it is a town that also has a big heart in it. One piece of that heart is the Ballymun horse owners who dedicate most of their time to the care and training of horses. These "Urban Cowboys" love their horses as if part of the family and they make sure there is plenty of feed and dry bedding each night.
This photo depicts one of those caring owners training a horse and making the animal feel part of the family of owners and horses.

nicely divided frame for the story; countryside on the right and city on left... god b&w conversion.. just wish perhaps that our hero was a bit closer in the frame and the car just behind his head is rather distracting...

Good image. This area always has had a reputation, with it's towers. There is a lot of regeneration going on currently, so hopefully it will improve the local situation. There's a similar horse culture along a good bit of northside Dublin.
Good clear photo. I think the urban background goes well to show the area. Nice photo.

Ah yes, the 'urban cowboys of Dublin'! In our post "Celtic-Tiger" era this almost seems out of place, as if it's from another time, but of course that isn't the case.
The choice of B&W here is perfect for the image, it gives it a timeless feel, good viewpoint too, capturing the background.
