Photographer’s Note

Howth is situated just 30 minutes drive from the centre of Dublin, but it's like entering a different world, far from the hype of the aglomeration. Most people go there to breath in fresh air of the sea breeze while strolling along the coastline. Not many notice the ruins of this old church, hidden at the foot of the hill a bit off the beaten track.

The picture was taken on a very nice sunny day.

You've been unlucky!!!
A stormy sky would have complete the ghostly aspect; the ruin, stony foreground and black cross suggest mystery.

I love the steel blue of the stones in the building against the blue of the sky.

It is a very beautiful architectural photograph with good tonal values and contrast. The weather too is cooperating very nicely.

Very good composition, the framing is perfect. You've made the right choice of making a vertical picture, showing a bit more of the ground. Only the shadows are a little strong, but it's beautiful.
