Lough Duff in the foreground and The Black Valley fading into the distance. The Macgillycuddy reeks are north in the lefthand side of the shot.

All taken on a surprisingly clear day up high hill walking in Kerry during the summer

Good shot. Although the back of the image is a bit fussy, the foreground more then makes up for that. The deep dark blue of the lake is very peculiar. Good job.

Very beautiful photograph, with a very good light and depth of field splendid. It is a right shame which the clouds obscure the foreground, it was perhaps necessary to wait a little more time before taking the photograph, by hoping that the clouds will mask the background which is over-exposed a little.

Is this a black lake? I like the shadows of the clouds.

Hi Andrew,

A well composed shot, I wouldn't have thought of useing a portrate (sp?) orientation in this situation.

TfS, Davy

This is a gorgeous photograph - fantastic job with your composition, and I love the play of light and shadow. It must have been something of a hike up there? The background is a bit underexposed (probably due to the distances); I did a workshop playing with it, hope you don't mind!
