Ciao cara Lisa,
It's nice to see you back again. I suspect that you have been busy or otherwise occupied because you haven't been your usual active self here of late. I do hope that all is well with you.
Another delightful "blue hour" photograph from your trip to Ireland last autumn. Your diagonal composition is excellent, allowing much of the frame to be taken up by stunning reflections on the water. The combination of natural and differing temperatures of artificial lights is superb, your exposure is spot-on and the details and sharpness are exquisite.

Why is it I can never get my night time compositions to look splendid like this? Maybe because I can't be bothered to carry a tripod:-) Ideally exposed and nicely framed; a composition that is perfectly suited to the vertical crop. Attractive warm/cool tonal contrasts. I wish you a pleasant week ahead; try not to work too hard!

Ciao Caro Lisa,
A blue hour shot which is a credit to you!
You have chosen a fine, angled viewpoint.
I just love the contrast between the sharpness of the building and its blurred image in the water.
Have a lovely Sunday,

These are 25 seconds very well spend. I like the texture of the water very much. It look like ice. I also like the movement of the wind in the trees.
Very well done

I like the combination of perfectly sharp and some blurred elements of this photo. The court has been presented very nicely with all the dark trees around it and the river providing pretty foreground and reflecting some light from the buildings. Good color and light management.
Thanks for sharing and enjoy your Sunday

I love the way the yellow and blue combine here, both on the building and in the reflection (maybe especially in the reflection). The wind has done some cool things here, keeping parts of the shot still while giving nice blur in select tree branches. The result is almost ghostlike - almost makes me want to see a noisy, B&W version.
Glad to see you poke your head in! Hope all is well.

A beauty of a shot. I find this building really hard to shoot, as it seems no matter what angle you choose, something always looks wonky in the result, but Im inspired by your result here. Not only a perfect angle, but the colors....these blues and golds are fit for a king! It is a fine building, and the soft reflection makes this really attractive. I see from the leaves that you got a nice breeze that day too. Or as they say in Ireland, "Tis fine drying weather" hahaha.
Thanks as always for sharing, and great to see you post.
Thanks for your kind comment earlier on today, I was up to visit mum today - goes without saying on Mother day. I'll be posting a pic later of an Irish Mammy from a sand sculpture contest in Dublin castle last year as a tribute to my mammy, your mammy and all mammies everywhere :)
there is something about the word Mammy that just makes me smile.
Have a great new week

Ciao cara Lisa

Beautiful combination of blue hour and golden toned lights. Again I see a special building from Dublin that I don't recall myself. I guess it means I need to get back there some day.
Reflections on the water look surprising to me. Most of them are soft on this long exposure but some golden reflections have sharp edges.
mirosu (15302) 2014-03-30 19:14
Superb blue hour photo. The building is in excellent light and the light reflections on calm water are beautiful. I like your viewpoint angle, creates an excellent perspective.
Very well done.
Wish you a nice week.

mkamionka (32521) 2014-03-31 1:12
this is one of my favourite spots in Dublin. Very attractive angle with plenty of reflection. This reflection is a real highlight here with yellow color tones merging with blue hour sky reflection. Very eye catching blur in the foreground.
It is 2 years since I move out of Dublin :(
sabermonajati (10405) 2014-03-31 8:28
ice architecture with amazing light you captured.

Looks ancient Greek or Roman in design. Wonderful distorted reflections with superb warm cold color contrasts between the blue and yellow. Excellent bg sharpness with punchy light contrasts and good density levels. A superb blue hour shot from Ireland. Tfs!

This is a nice image of the Four Courts of Dublin. The reflection in the water of the lights from the courts present a colorful foreground. Excellent composition with some lovely colors coupled with nice light management and presentation.TFS.

difficult shot taken through blue hour
I love the hundred of lights the architectural

ideally exposed and nicely framed
you have chosen a five point of view
have a nice new day
krzychu30 (15510) 2014-04-02 0:17
the perspective is great and certainly captures well the beauty and splendor of the architecture.
But even if I´ll repeat myself for a thousand time I must just say I love this color combination of blue and yellow.Blue hour seems to be the perfect time to capture such scene and you did really perfectly here!
Wish You all the best

Excellent late evening shot of Dublin (I've decided to ban the term "blue hour" from now on!) But explain something to me. Although I appreciate that you've used a 25 sec. shutter speed, I still can't account for the tilt in the reflections: why do they lean to the right? Weird. But interesting.
macjake (61514) 2014-04-03 12:44
yes, i think i remember this building - just too bad i couldn't remember it because i was there in person!
Oh well, in time i suppose....
I see you're not on TE as frequently as you used to be, everything ok at home/work??
I took some days off TE, nice to have some TEBO every now and then :)
Its always fun to get back into it and see the posts from all the members since the 4 or 5 days away.
For this shot here, glad to see you're using the conventional tripod, not the forehead tripod :)
....or maybe...no.. lol
great to see the city streets of Dublin no matter what the subject content is...love seeing these types of photos.
good star light effect and the electric yellow streak in the water like a lightning bolt.
see you around!

Ciao cara Lisa,

grear nightshot, perfectly managed, lovely colors and reflections on water, well done.
photoray (13686) 2014-04-10 7:39
Having majored in history, your night view of the Romanesque influenced architecture of the Four Courts caught my attention. The temple like front, dramatic column supporting dome, are classical design and a bonus with golden light reflections in the deep blue water front.
