Pictured here is another view of Clonmacnoise on the banks of the River Shannon in County Offaly in Irelands midlands.
Visible in this scene are a few different buildings from my post of this place yesterday. From left to right here, we can see Temple Finian (the tall tower with conical roof), in the centre is temple Connor, temple Kelly and the Cathedral, although its hard to see them as separate buildings because they are in sihoutte, and to the far right the tallest tower is O Rourkes tower.
Also visible in silhouette is a number of the hundreds of grave monuments which dot this place.
The site at Clonmacnoise traces its history back to the 6th century when it was founded by St Ciaran. For a more detailed history of this place, please see the note on my previous picture here :
This view is taken standing at the banks of the river, looking south.
Thanks for looking!

Dramatic view of Clonmacnoise, with the ancient temples, cathedral and tombstones outlined into the radiating sun. You have captured the atmosphere of the historical heritage going back centuries.

stunning shot against the sun!Itīs not your first shot of that kind, but every of your new pictures with strong backlight amazes me with something different.
Here I like especially the mood created by the sun.Especially in combination with this scenery.
Beautiful, evocative and taken with great attention for all details(both FG as well as the BG are exposed superbly!).
Wish You all the best

Oooh, another haunting delight from these grounds. :) Perhaps not all that spooky under the bright sun, but the harsh light and silhouetted objects still give off a touch of the vibe. As long as you keep doing it, I'll keep giving praise for shooting against that big ball of flame...the varying effects you've produced are impressive, each one with their own characteristic and personality if you will.
A simple scene, but one very nicely balanced with the towers on each end of the frame. I particularly enjoy how the foreground hillside is gently lit, just enough to make out the grade and subtle nuances of dimension. If I didn't know any better, having been in the desert for a decade now, I would think the grave monuments scattered across the horizon were actually cacti...but I do know better, because we don't have even this much green landscape unless your around a golf course!? How great would it be to see some silhouetted arms making their way out of the ground...rise of the zombies...this seems like a good scene for that to take place! :)
Enjoy the new day. Take it easy.
Cheers from the dough boy,

ti stai specializzando in silhouettes e lo fai sempre senza trascurare una ottima gestione della luce e con gran cura della composizione.
Anche in questa ottieni un ottimo risultato al quale si accompagnano le solite eccellenti note.
Ciao e buona giornata

a nice reverse light photography. I love photographs taken with harsh light. shadows and framing has been very successful.

This a fine study in silhouette and against the light photography. The two towers flanking the photo on both sides presents a nice wide angle effect, though it seems you have not used the lens. I like the way you have retained the mysterious and spooky atmosphere that one usually relates with a cemetery in spite of bright sunlight, just by the choice of angle and POV. Very well done, thanks for sharing.

what a striking difference from your previous presentations of this place! Your change of vantage points has brought a stunning shift in lighting, colours and atmosphere. Your series is a remarkable study and proves how useful and intriguing it is to roam around a site and look for diverse possibilities. There's nice sense of depth and the silhouettes make an intriguing scenery. Despite the very dim side effects on the silhouette of the cathedral, the backlight is most dramatic and fascinating, there seems to be a formidable hole in the sky. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,
