this is kilshannig pier, situated on brandon bay, on the northern shores of the dingle peninsula in county kerry.
although it was early in the evening in the middle of the summer, the scene was a picture of quiet tranquility, apart from the sounds of a few sea birds and the gentle lapping of the water.

Hello dear Brian,
A mastery capture with perfect pov and layout.
I think you have used a wideangle here which created some distortions but on the other side has added a gret graphical effect to the capture.
TFS and best regards

a truly great composition. The red boat provides a perfect anchor point for the eye to take in the beautiful scenery around the harbor. Perfectly framed and composed, this is a beautiful photo indeed.

Une très belle composition,
Un cadrage tout en perspective, du contraste, la barque rouge ressort parfaitement sur le fond bleu.
Bien joué, j'aime beaucoup.

You're getting closer and low angle view to reveal all its beauty as this stunning boat deserves, superb photographic qualities here and the wide lens gives appealing sensational effect. It's so catchy that relates to the background. This makes a facinating landscape with wonderful colors and great sharpness, the beautiful sky finishes off so superbly. An intriging visual wide effect. Wonderful eye you have. Well done. Cheers!

Le regard suit naturellement la pointe de la barque rouge dans l'image vers le large, ce qui donne beaucoup de profondeur à l'ensemble.

Hello Brian - This reminds me so much of the small piers and slipways we saw in Scotland; just lovely. The little red boat is a super addition to this charming scene leading the eye to the calm waters and inviting us to row out and try our luck with the lobster pots. I do envy you an the wonderful photographic opportunities you have in your country. One day I shall get there. Very nice shot and what a pleasure to see. Warm regards rosemary

As John Masefield in that wonderful poem Sea Fever said, "I must go down to the sea again....". And so I must because I've been missing out on scenes like this for some time now. You, of course, excel at seascapes such as this.
This is a beautiful photograph, Brian, with all your hallmarks of supreme image quality, sharpness, perfect colours and, quite often, strong and dramatic lines of perspective.
A very well composed shot in which the red boat dominates the foreground but also points us directly to the distant horizon. Wonderful tectures in the wood and paint of the boat and a lovely sheen on the sea - and all beaneath a wonderfully characterful sky.

The colors of the small boat and the sea complement each other very nicely in this well composed photo. The scene resonates with tranquility. Have a good weekend,

Great POV here, the wide angle works well and I really like the vivid saturation of the old boats in the FG. Their saturation and textures are very attractive and the f/18 has achieved a superb depth of field. The length of the pier has given the image a really good perspective, and yet another stunning element.
Nice job, have a good weekend

Once again a picture with a beautiful light
management and composition and a picture
that is taken from a beautiful point of view:
the picture has a lots of diagonal lines
what creates a lots of depth and it makes
also the picture exciting.

I was debating between this photo and your newest 'blue' post....i ended up with this one because i like how we can see the inside of the boat.
think about it..how often do we get to see that..not very often at all. and not only that, but its well lit and illuminated so we can see everything.
I also like where you placed the horizon line, as its not in the centre. glad to see the boat is red for extra contrast.
kennyblack (4207) 2013-01-15 2:19
I really like this perfect POV, invites the viewer to look forward to the 'horizon focusing on the beautiful details. Very well defined all details in the foreground.
Excellent management and excellent result.
The best greetings, have a nice day ... Marino
