Photographer's Note
Blarney Castle is a Medieval stronghold built nearly 600 years ago by Cormac McCarthy, one of Irelands greatest chieftains.
The castle is now a partial ruin, but with access to some rooms and the battlements. At the very top of the castle is the Blarney Stone, the famous stone which gives those who kiss it the gift of elequence. However, in order to kiss the stone, one must lie on your back and hang over a sheer drop. There are numerous legends about the Blarney Stone, but some say it was originally the Lia Fail, a magical stone upon which kings were crowned.
Surrounding the castle is the extensive gardens, which feature natural rock formations such as Druids Circle and Witches Cave, as well as Blarney House, a scottish baronial mansion built in 1874.

hi noel,
the colours immediately stand out in this picture as they are very bright and appealing. you have placed the castle perfectly in the frame and the water is shaped perfectly to lead the viewers eye towards the castle. excellent sharpness and depth of field.

Dear Noel
It is an unfortunate reality that pictures of ruins, no matter how well composed or technically well executed, don't seem to attract the attention of viewers as much as other subjects do. I, on the other hand, love ruins, and your posts are a source of much wonder and contemplation to me, particularly because your notes are always so comprehensive and informative.
Your capture here of the famous Blarney Castle is great because of the reflection of the ruins in the stream and the parklike surroundings. Well done.

Ciao Noel
Complimenti
Ciao e buona settimana

Hi Noel,
I saw this on the home page yesterday as one of the Featured Photos...and I have to say, well worth the recognition! I'm really surprised this hadn't yet caught my eye, it's gorgeous! It almost looks to good to be true, as if it were created specifically for a world renown painter to work his talents onto a canvas. This has a similar look and feel of a Thomas Kincade painting. The rendering of colors and tones are smooth and quite pleasing to the senses. This is the type of view one could easily enjoy for endless hours, just sitting by and soaking up the calm atmosphere. Every psychiatrist should have a copy of this in their office for meditation. :) Love the composition, you've come up with a beauty here! Thanks for the view. Have a great day.
Best regards.
Cheers,
Jason
