Photographer's Note

connemara is derived from the name given to an early irish tribal group (the conmacne) that lived in the connacht region of ireland. one particular group lived close to the sea and they became known as the ‘conmacne mara’.

this isolated little cottage, near maam cross, stood out against the greens and browns of the landscape because of its bright red roof and whitewashed walls.
