Photographer’s Note

This majestic castle which was the home of the "Ferocious O'Flaherty's" is two miles south of Oughterard. It was built around 1500. The O'Flaherty's were a wild Irish clan who were masters of West Connacht - the area between Lough Corrib and the sea - up to the 16th century. The O'Flaherty's did not take kindly to the Normans who settled in Galway from the late 1300's, regarding them as enemies. They frequently attacked the settlers, who had to build walls around the city to keep them out. This led to the saying "From the ferocious O'Flahertys good Lord deliver us".

Described as "by far the finest dwelling" upon any part of the shores of Lough Corrib, Aughanure is a well preserved example of a six story Irish tower house.

A really good perspective, beautiful photo with a pov interesting with some beautiful colours, but you have exaggerated with the over-sharpened.

dead center framing with a good light, why not?
the trees gives a good natural framing top, bottom and left so we can escape to the right ;)

fajna architektura, niby taka sama jak wszystkie irlandzkie zamki a jednak troche inna, ma swoja odmienna specyfike. Zabawne to okragle cos z przodu.

Czesc Pawel,
Kapitalna kompozycja oraz swiatlo. Co za tym idzie- kolory. Musze tez przyznac, ze nie zgodze sie z kolega powyzej, ktory twierdzi ze zdjecie jest przeostrzone. Mz wszystko tutaj jest dopracowane i dopiete na ostatni guzik. Piekna fota!

what a stunning picturesque scene you've captured.
The clear crisp blue sky is beautiful, which contrasts so well with the green grass.
The tree branches break up the sky nicely and add an inside frame for your photo.
