The Valley of Two Lochs Photo

Photographer’s Note

This shot was taken at the historic valley of Glendalough. In Gaelic Glendalough means 'Glen of two lochs'.

The area has some great scenery and is host to 6th century ruins. It also has a tourist centre and many hillside walks.

The ruins were are part of a monastery which was founded by St Kelvin. Gravestones surround the ruins.

Hi Scott,
Interesting photo,good sharpness and colour.But why you don,t take all gravestones in the front? I think when you take two steps back you get a better result,but maybe it was not possible to do that.But I like the picture!

A very nice picture indeed. Perfectly sharp and clear and perfectly exposed.

I love the wonderful greens in the foreground and the blues in the distant hills. A great sky too.

A well-balanced and interesting shot with a good informative note.

Hi Scott,
very interesting photo with beautiful gravestones in the foreground and hills in the background. I like this picture, but I think it is too much the sky (top part) and too less the bottom part of the picture (bases of grovestones). Nice natural colours.

Hello Scott

I've chosen this shot to critique. I know that it is better for the photographer to get advice than mere pleasantries.

Stood in your shoes I would first have tried to break the skyline with a cross, I would have knelt down or even lay down if necessary. I would have only included one cross in the foreground and left the others falling away.

If lying down etc makes you feel like a prat, welcome to photography, we are a thick-skinned bunch
