Photographer’s Note
Just before my deployment, my wife and I took a trip to Ireland in late 2004. We visited Dublin and then made a circle around the city, starting with Newgrange and making our way down to Wicklow and then back to Dublin.
The highlight of the trip was the drive to Glendalough. After we left our bed and breakfast, we wound our way through country lanes until we came over the pass that leads down to the head of the lake. It was raining lightly, and the clouds were just above the road. As we came over the pass, we came across hills covered in heather and dotted with the ruins of what must have been houses, though at the time we thought this particular ruin was a small church. We stopped at this one to take a look around and take some photos.
Here, I wanted to frame the heather, the clouds, and the rolling hills in the doorway of the house. The other end offered a view out down the valley across a small creek, but I felt that composition would be too busy and photographed this opposite end instead.

Linda fotografia.
O contraste das pedras com as cores da vegetação formaram uma grande composição. Parabéns.

Very nice shot with a natural frame. A very nice pleasant and colorful scene. Very well done.

I like the textural and conceptual contrast of the harsh, ancient, lifeless stone framing the soft, fresh, vibrantly alive landscape. I like the well-defined blocks of color too. Very nice! -Don
