Photographer's Note

I finally convinced myself to get up early on Tuesday and drove to the beautiful valley Glendalough with its ruins of a early celtic monastery. I was hoping for a nice sunrise with a bit of mist/fog and I wasn't disappointed.

The morning mist and backlight sun created a lovely layering and the trees and buidlings of the monastery are shown as sillhouettes. You can see the top of the famous round tower on the left and two of the seven churches - St. Mary's and the cathedral. This is a telephoto landscape taken at 160 mm.

I have processed this hot with slightly warmer tones. I think it suits the warm morning light well. Remember, it's a colour photograph, not sepia.
