Northern Gannets

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Yesterday I went to the Saltee Islands, off the Wexford coast, with 24 other photographers. There were a lot of sea birds on the island: Puffins, Razorbills, Guillemots, fulmars, kittiwakes, gulls and many, many Gannets. It was incredible how close we could walk up to the Gannets without them being disturbed. They made sure however to let you know when you're close enough.
I took a lot of close up shots and shots of birds in flight. But the ones I like best are the wide angle takes with the polariser mounted. This shot was taken at 15 mm and the chick in the foreground was only about half a metre from me when I took the shot. That was as close as I was allowed before the older birds gave me a warning. |

have a nice day

Hi Hauke.
I agree with Sylvain - so few critiques? TE is mysterious sometimes. This photo is way ahead of lots of shots of castles and sunsets that have heaps of critiques. It is a great nature shot, superbly composed from so close-up as to make it quite intimate. Marvellous composition, with the diagonal line and resulting perspective effect. The polariser was a great choice, and the whites have not blown out. Sky looks great and you caught some birds in great poses and in flight. Sharpness and depth of field are great. Best shot I've seen today.

Andrew
Hey MadraRua, don't mind about the points. As I realized sunsets get the most. Anyway, your picture is great! Nice colours, clear and great position!
Thanks for sharing!

Nessie
