Bleak and Sombre Bay Photo

Ballydowan Bay, Co. Waterford, Ireland.
Near Dungarvan.

Another interpretation of this isolated bay in southern Ireland. I think this image captures the stark, bleak beauty of the area - on a day like this, cold and wet, it looks foreboding - but it's well worth visiting in any conditions - if not just for the peacefullness of it all.

The beach here was very slippery and wet - ideally I would have laid down for a real close up of the foreground - but I'm not that keen! I'm hoping for sun next time though :-)

The pebbles in the foreground come out quite well. The shore runs a good diagonal through the picture. It's a pity the cliffs in the background are so dark. But I think you did quite a good job with these poor weather conditions.

Nicely composed, good lines and shapes in the foreground, polished by the sea, contrasting with the rocks and cliffs at the back. I like it. Max

Very well captured. The damp feel comes across very well in this photo.

Great stuff David. The rocks do look slippery when wet. You have good detail captured in the foreground and I love the green boulder path thru your image...nicely done. And yeah lying down would have produced a nice shot, but I don't blame you for not wanting green ectoplasm on you...I like the distand darkness, it goes with the bleak sky.

I like your POV here, which really shows us the colour and detail of the pebbles, and water and moss and gives a good sense of depth to the image. Maybe a grey and sombre day but the diffuse lighting helps to bring out the colours well.

Superb composition. Depth and sharpness is very good. Nice green color of pebbles contrasting with the gray... Lovely view.
