Taken in the Japanese garden at the Irish National Stud. I'm not sure if this was seasonal or if they look like that all the time, but this red ? maple ? was just spectacular. I wish the photo had been better; it's a bit grainy, but the color was just phenomenal. The garden was commissioned by Colonel William Hall-Walker (Lord Wavertree) and was designed by Eida and his son Minoru. It's a fairly well-established garden, having been created between 1906 and 1910. It didn't receive much attention until about 1945, when the Irish National Stud Company was formed. The following year a horticultural supervisor was assigned. Later, the garden was opened to the public. The garden symbolizes a journey from oblivion to eternity and the human journey through life. It's often called the most acclaimed Japanese Garden in Europe. More than 150,000 visitors experience the gardens each year.
