Photographer’s Note

Today again a sunny, and a bit touristic picture of Ireland: Waterville, small village along the famous ring of Kerry, thus a little bit touristic with just a few holiday homes, which is also a side of Ireland. However, the surroundings of Waterville are wild and almost deserted.
Waterville is situated on the Ballinskelligs Bay of which you find a picture here

The houses in ireland are often painted in the most strong colours, and to quote my sister, who is in Ireland very often: 'It's so nice, on a dark, grey, dull, rainy day, at least the houses are really colourful'

Something I didn't know about Ireland, this almost looks like a scene from burano Italy, very nice colours, and a good picture to prove it :o)

WOW Rinie - this is really great. I haven;t seen such a neat shot in a while with so many straight lines. Perfect. I love the colours of the buildings - so warm and inviting - I can definately believe your sister - enough to make anyone feel brighter. Very well done.

Beautiful colors. I like this nice street with the slope, and the way that each car has a different tilt. Thsi townis washed by a perfect sunlight. I also like the diagonal lines that created by the lines of houses. A very good one, Rinie.

Une trés belle palette de couleurs est presente ici avec cette diagonale d'habitation.
L'image est trés bonne et la presentation aussi.
Les cables sont toujours l'eternel probleme des photographe mais la je doit dire que ils donne un petit plus a la photo et pas des plus desagreable.
J'aime bien bravo Rinie

Lovely vibrant and bright colors. I like the repetitions here: the houses, the cars, the people, which seem to be in pairs, and even the cables. Their presence is a bit distractive, but sychronized with the rest of the elements. Good details and a great composition!

I'm not so sure I agree with the colour choices made by some of these house owners, but it's certainly colourful, and you've caught the atmosphere of the place very well ;-))

The colors, the composition and the resolution are great but I'm afraid that the cars and the people moving have poluted the scene.

Waterville! I was there. Colorful isn't it? you captured well the way the Irish build their towns, any incline is good. Your photo shows it well.

Very nice colorful houses. I imagine they would be especially vivid and appreciated on a dark, wet, day. I love this perspective with the houses and the cars. I can feel the downward slope here. I like the hills appearing over the houses far in the distance. Very nicely done.

Hi Rinie, did you try the an corcan restaurant? ;-). Nice catch of these tipically colored houses. The street slope puts them in a nice diagonal and the light reveals facades structure. A beautiful light you got here indeed. And don't worry about the cables anymore. It will take a long time to clone them, and they are tipical from a small village, not disturbing at all in my opinion. Excellent shot, I hope you have other ones from this beautiful country.

So colourful and bright picture today, Rinie! :-) I love these two-stored houses painted in fresh colours, so eyes can be lit up only by looking at them. Suppose your sister is quite right - they have their reason for the sweet colours there..;-)
Very pleasant composition and lovely diagonal of the houses and street going down. Very well done indeed!

The colours here called me, just a lovely combination of pastels you manage to portray here. F-stop of f16 or smaller would have given you focus throughout, but maybe you wanted the soft-focus effect?

Lovely diagonal composition Rinie, with all those brightly painted houses. Must be great to stay in this charming village - even under dire weather conditions ;-). In these kind of shots I'm generally partial to a profound DOF, but in this case it works - inviting us to linger a while longer with the nice details in the front- & middlestage.

The thumnail caught my attention and the large version certainly did not disappoint. Very colorful street. I like the framing of the downhill street. Somehow, I feel the right side is a bit too tightly cropped, by then again, TE only allows photos of 800 pixels wide :) I would like to see a panorama photo of this street in which the right side is extended...

This is one of my favorites in your Ireland series, Rinie - so far, that is, I'm confident you have more to share :-) Lovely colors of the houses on this street, and the undulations in the asphalt road make for some interesting parking angles of the cars. Thanks for posting the workshop, it does two things for me: (a) including the road on the right and the more pronounced repetition of the streetlights, it is great in its own right, and (b) it shows that you did an excellent cropping job on your posting here :o)

This photo is exactly how I remember Ireland. The hills with dividing rock walls in the back ground, the brightly painted buildings and the tiny cars definitely bring back memories.
