This picture is taken from the monastery at the top of Skellig Michael looking towards the mainland. Skellig Beag is framed in the church window. The window is over 1000 years old. More Skelligs pictures can be found here
The balance between the bright scene and the dark stone was achieved by adjusting the shadows and highlights in Photoshop.

Very nice view over Little Skellig, and the frame is nice too! And impressive when you think this monastery was build more than a thousand years from now. The people that had enough faith and strength to come and live here fascinate me.
You managed a tricky light exposure here. When I try something like that, I end up usually with a very light scenery in the window, or a very dark window, here we see all the details. Well done.

A well executed through the window shot. I will echo Sophie's comment and say it was a difficult light stuation but you managed it very well here. I like the natural frame too. Good work.
