The light begins to chase away the shadows as the day begins in Portmagee. It is from here than one can take a trip out to the Skellig Islands but in this shot the boats are moored until later in the morning. In the distance is Valencia Island, joined now, to the mainland, by a bridge.

What a perfect shot. I admire your post-processing restraint. I must learn that just because we can brighten and bring detail into shadow areas, it is often more appropriate to allow some darkness and mystery to remain. You have provided a highlight in the middle part of the frame, with the perfect reflection of the red and white boat; so it is good balance that with the darker dock in the foreground.
Thank you for sharing this lesson!

Valencia is one of the areas of the UK Meteorological shipping forecast. I have always wondered where it was, now I know:-) The early morning light is quite sublime in this well composed image. Superb colours and sharpness and some lovely reflections.

this is magical. The early morning light so bright and tenderly touching surfaces as warmth builds with the coming of a new day. It looks so peaceful and idyllic and you have captured the atmosphere magnificently. Glorious!
Enjoy the weekend - Brian.

A very moody shot thanks to the beautiful warm sunrise light on the boats
Have a nice WE, best regards

Rosemary, very nicely seen. The light is, as always in your photos, wonderful, and I think you made a great choice leaving much of the picture in shadow, as it was in reality. It lends the proper mood to a shot of early morning.

Bravissima. I miei complimenti.
Ciao e buon fine settimana

che bella questa luce, la doratura delle barche è meravigliosa e ne guadagnano anche i riflessi.
Mi state facendo appassionare a questa terra.

You're capturing well this port by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the tasteful fishing port in which many boats moored calmly. The light is managed well and the whole is harmonized beautifully by a good color combination. And, the reflection projected to the water draws out an additional good effect.

The early morning light illumintates brightly certain parts of the boats and the water. I like that strong contrast between the blue-white-red parts of the picture and the very dark parts.
Best regards, Paul

Quand on admire la version plus large, on voit tout ce qui manque au site actuel pour pouvoir apprécier pleinement les photos postées!Très belle lumière matinale sur ces petits bateaux.

hello, a nice presentation here. Like the first rays of light which occupy the scene gradually. The contrast with shadowed portion made it beautiful. A very good one where I like a lot the warmth of the atmosphere. Like a lot the composition. Tfs.

I can almost hear the birds beginning to waken, and the world come to life slowly on the rising of the sun. The golden light of this is really beautiful, and as Russ says in the first comment, the areas of shadow compliment the light beautifully. The sky is super too, clouds like spaceships!
All the best, have a great weekend.

You really had some nice weather and good light on your ring of Kerry tour. It looks completely different from what I remember. I hope you did go on to Valentia island, it is well worth the trip to.
As I said, the light is gorgeous and the still water with the perfect reflections of the boats is gorgeous.
I hope it is not so hot anymore in Windhoek today (saw your remark on Noels last post)

morning is beautiful, good title. Fine saturated colors and game of clean air, light and shadows. Photo I like.
Have a nice evening.

your title captures perfectly what we see here!
The way the sun illuminates the scene with its warm, soft light creates really fabulous mood of the it.But I enjoy here also the shaded areas in the FG,which contrast so nicely to the brighter parts of the image.
Beautiful,calm and so idyllic scene!
Have a nice sunday

nice to see that i'm not the only person who likes to get up super early for sunrise photography!
it pays off doesn't it!
I really like seeing the black tires against the red painted side of the boat in the middle :)
of course the warm glow of light suits and contrasts the blue sky perfectly.
love the calmness and mood here.

I am currently looking out on Loch Earn with the low cloud obscuring the view of the mountains. Although still beautiful I could do with some of the blue sky that you had in Ireland. The light is very lovely in your picture with gorgeous colours and exceptional sharpness. Wonderful!
Kind Regards, Ann

the early bird catches the worm! You have captured a wonderful mood that is very well conveyed and felt by the Viewer. The composition is really successful and the perspective is excellent. My compliments!
