The O'Connell monument is a landmark of Dublin.
Built to commemorate the “Liberator” Daniel O’Connell after whom the street was renamed after independence. The monument was built by John Henry Foley, who was then working on the Albert Memorial in London. The monument is in three parts, surmounted by the figure of O’Connell. The base is heavy limestone with four winged figures representing Patriotism, Fidelity, Courage and Eloquence. Above this is a drum surrounded by figures representing O’Connell’s labours and triumphs. Source : http://archiseek.com/

Really good perspective of the O'Connell monument showing some of the wonderful architecture of the street as well. Perfect lighting which brings out the colours well in the shot. The people in the scene perfectly reflect the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the city.
Best wishes as always

Your selection of angle is always noteworthy. The monument with the colourful building in the background is very well composed from a low POV.
I like the activities of the people, they are so different but so lively.
Very good colours and sharpness as usual.

Fantastic density levels and sharpness with vibrant colour and superb saturation. The warm cold color contrast between the red brick facades of the 3 buildings against the blue sky is excellent. The fg people animate the scene and provide scale. Tfs!

A beautiful monument, one of my favourites and a wonderful capture of it too. The image is really sharp, capturing the detail of the sculpture so well, while all around the people of the city go about their business, or stop to enjoy a rest on its steps. Excellent scene, and that wonderful rare blue sky is a perfect compliment.
All the best

Good morning Miguel,
Great daylight over the black-marble monument, on a bright day.
Details shown in fine outlines, and people around added vitality to the whole.
Nice street view on town, impressive buildings along.

A shot with excellent clarity and dof
I like how your perspective has taken the statue proud of the b/g buildings, emphasising its stature and importance.
It makes me wonder how this would have looked in portrait style, with a little more sky above the head of Daniel O' Connell.
My warm regards,
mkamionka (27089) 2013-09-26 8:40
the frame is quite tight with the monument almost touching the edge and the perspective is quite distorted but I really like the final effect here-you managed to capture this place to appear very colorfully with the busses and people alwas there -without disturbing the composition but rather enhancing it.
Very well done!

I know some parts of this monument through Noel's pictures. Your presentation is very interesting as it shows us the whole of the monument integrated in a broad urban context and as part of daily life in this part of the city. I like how you chose your point of view in order to include the row of adjacent buildings as well as a lot of people. Depth and clarity are great, the light is splendid, the colours eye-catching, vibrant and pleasing. All the parts, subjects and details of this photo are interesting. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
