Photographer's Note
I have travelled a bit in warm southern countries where the sun is abundant and I have to say it is a real challenge to take an interesting photo having uniformly blue sky.
We have rarely this problem in Dublin all year round... :)
However, having too many clouds in the sky may be problematic as well. Optimally you do want the clouds but you don’t want them to obstruct the light completely. Heavy clouds may seem photogenic yet they affect also my mood so even if there are plenty of opportunities to take dramatic photographs in Ireland, when I see bad weather I tend to stay at home. As a consequence I did not use my camera for several weeks so I was glad to see sun for few hours today. The forecast promised crazy 18 degrees Celsius. There were just few such warm days this year... So I took my camera for a short walk. The place presented in the photo is a very touristy spot in Dublin City Centre along the River Liffey.
Ha'penny Bridge is a pedestrian bridge built in 1816 over the River Liffey in Dublin, Ireland. Before the Ha'penny Bridge was built there were seven ferries, operated by a William Walsh, across the Liffey. The ferries were in a bad condition and Walsh was informed that he had to either fix them or build a bridge. Walsh chose the latter option and was granted the right to extract a ha'penny toll from anyone crossing it for 100 years. Initially the toll charge was based, not on the cost of construction, but to match the charges levied by the ferries it replaced. A further condition of construction was that, if the citizens of Dublin found the bridge and toll to be "objectionable" within its first year of operation, it was to be removed at no cost to the city. The toll was increased for a time to a Penny Ha'penny (one and a half pence), but was eventually dropped in 1919. While the toll was in operation, there were turnstiles at either end the bridge.

Hi Mariusz
Fantastic and perfect shot. Absolutely beautiful river scene in a peaceful day that makes this picture very interesting. The spanning bridge provides a good lead in through the image in great depth and with good sense of distance. A well composed and balanced image in great DOF, sharpness and contrast, of all I love the subtle light and colors. The cotton clouds I find have further enhanced the beauty immencely in general. Well done, TFS

Hi Mariusz,
I smiled when I read your note. I is quite clear that a partly cloudy sky could be much more exciting than a clear blue sky. Here you make really good use of the clouds in your composition. The entire photo is really well-composed with the bridge to the left, the river and the colourful houses. TFS and have nice evening!
Kind regards,
Ulf

Witaj Mariusz,
Bardzo ladnie wykonane zdjecie. Osobiscie, bardzo lubie takie chmury wtedy zdjecie wychodzi przepieknie tak jak na tym zdjeciu. Slicznie prezentujesz to swoje miasto. Wyglada imponujaco. U Ciecie 18 c, natomiast u nas 40 albo troche ponand.

Pozdrawiam M.

Hi Mariusz,
A nice typical view on Dublin. I found it not very easy to have a good point of view on this famous Ha'Penny bridge, but this one is very good with the coloured houses behind. The cloudy sky is very beautiful, more than a uniformly blue one I agree !
Have a nice day,
Olivier

Hello Mariusz,
I like the delicacy and the elegance of the composition. The point of view is chosen well. The light, the colors, the neatness are excellent. The sky is sublime, details are many. Bravo.

Hello Mariusz
a wonderfully clear and crisp shot of this beautiful bridge. The detail is so sharp and the colours so distinctive against the blue and white in the sky. Captivating!
Enjoy the day - Brian.

Hi dear Mariusz
Yes I know what you mean: all blue sky is boring, but then all white sky (which is just about every photo I have of Dublin) is a photo-wrecker. So I'm glad you got a bit of a mix here and it certainly has lit up the beautiful coloured houses. The sharpness and depth in this photo are exquisite. The bridge provides another interesting element and great perspective. And then of course the Liffey aint looking too shabby either.
Thanks for sharing, hope the job-hunting's going well

Hello MAriusz ,
As a "clouds'lover" , i agree totally with your note . They often are important element of a picture . For instance , during my lats trip in Madeira , the sky was mainly perfectly blue : what a pitty ! :)
Here , the clouds are splendid , and enhance the beauty of the view , with the bridge and teh coloured houses . The contrast with the dark water is stunning .

Hi Mariusz,
yes, this photo demonstrates that a sky well decorated with white clouds always provides a high aesthetic level onto a photo, and is better than a sky uniformly bored.
In this case you have used this beautiful sky with the clouds to create a very attractive and very powerful composition, with a framing that combines skillfully the architecture of the houses and the elegant bridge, in a nice perspective in a soft diagonal.
The light is very well managed and gives a great quality to the colors.
A magnificent work.
Friendly regards,
Josep

Hi Mariusz
I loved this photo from the first time i viewed it yesterday!
I'm a huge lover of large puffy and skinny stringy clouds! they make photos 100% better!
and you've captured them here.
the add definition, substance, depth, form...just love them so much. imagine what this scene would look like without those beautiful clouds.
Now, as for the architecture, the bridge and the colors...yes, all that is great as well.
I can't help but wonder how this would look in blue hour...does that bridge illuminate at all?
great compo and lighting!
cheers

Witaj Mariusz,
Very nice shot with a POV well selected. The incurving bridge, very graphic, is very well locatd in the well ballanced composition. The various colors of the houses in the Bg arise very well. Beautiful cloudy sky well collected too.

Ciao dear Mariusz,
the first thing that catches the eye in this image is the beautiful cloudy sky, quite rare in southern countries, as you wrote in your notes. The second thing is the incredible sharpness, especially in the details of the bridge. A nice testimony of Dublin accompanied by interesting notes about the history of the bridge. Congratulations! BRAVO!
Ciao, have a very nice weekend!

The chosen pov nicely shows this part of town with the bridge and houses. The cities that are crossed by a river, has more charm. A nice view on typical Dublin. Very well seen and done.

This lovely bridge, the reflections in the river, the colourful façades and the gorgeous sky make the photo very appealing. Dublin looks so pretty and gay with such a fine weather. And the sharpness of the image make us appreciate all the small details in the photo. Interesting note too. I didn't think this bridge was so old!
