Photographer's Note

Washington street in Cork. I had been walking home from UCC for about a month now, and absolutely love this building. I didn't realize til after i got home on my computer how it really represented a building from the 1940ish. thanks for the critiques, shoulda made a decision as to whether include the entire car aspect or get rid of it. too bad i couldn't get a Ford Model-T to drive by haha.

Nice picture and good point of view...The black and white effect gives you the impression of a previous era. Perhaps you could have excluded the car at the side of the photo...

Korina is right - Renault on left hand side ruins the effect of "old photography".
But anyway - very good as for début shot! :)
Good eye for composition, indeed!

Hi Tyler,
Good choice for B&W, and the composition is pretty good. However, I would prefer if that flatiron building, which is the focal point, were not so centered. I think a better POV would include a little more to the left side of the street (including the cars--I guess I'm a purist!), putting the converging streets more to the right of the frame. It would also take care of the half-car, which is a distraction now but could easily become part of the composition to add depth to the foreground. Just my opinion, though!
I hope you have more photos of Washington Street. I think it's an interesting subject, so much variety in that area!

Hi Tyler, great POV here and great spotting. I love the choice of B&W here, you're right if only an old Ford drove by, we'd be back in the 50s. Excellent work, TFS, Lisa.
