Photographer’s Note
Dysert O'Dea is a beautiful place, very calm, not very known, with a special ambience.
Photo represent a 12th century High Cross of Saint Tola with the ruins of monastery in the background.
As you can see, it's an impressive high cross (which stands about 4 metres high) with an imposing episcopal figure on the east face, surmounted by a crucifixion with Christ in a long robe.
Figure of a bishop with mitre and volute crozier,
representing Saint Tola - bishop in Meath, the local saint, who founded a monastery in the eighth century.
