Photographer’s Note
This is a shot of the remains of an embankment which was intended to seal off a large area of marshland for reclamation from the Fergus River Estuary outside the town of Ennis. The embankment stretches for several kilometers across the mouth of a bay in the estuary. It was being constructed by several hundred labourers when it was destroyed by a storm and high tide in May, 1854. The tools and timber and iron fixtures used in it's construction remain in position today.

Hi Enda ! Welcome on Trekearth.
Thank you for this picture. It's a very strong message about the power of nature, and also about the memory of the ancient events...
Good choice of B/W.

Hi Enda, wolcome to TE, interesting note and picture, like the image I am into bw photography myself so this has perked my interest. I think the composition is very nice, perhaps consider cropping the sky a bit, bw suits the view very well.

hallo Enda, this pic is sad and curious at the same time, good choice of B&W to add a sort of mistery around it. regards Alex
