Photographer’s Note
This photograph presents the Carlow Cathedral (Carlow town, County Carlow, Ireland).
Carlow Cathedral was started in 1828 and completed in 1833, in Gothic style. The main architect was Thomas Cobden, but the cathedral was the brain-child of the Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin, James Doyle (J.K.L.), a prominent champion of Catholic Emancipation, who died the year after the cathedral was opened and is interred in its walls. A sculpture, by John Hogan, in memorial to the bishop was finished in 1839.
I have to admit that I have already explored the idea of showing a church through the partially open gate, two such photos are already in my gallery. I believe this is a good trick to enrich the composition of otherwise rather plain church shot.
With uploading the photograph from County Carlow I am getting closer to my aim of presenting at least one shot from every Irish county (see the map). At the moment there are no photos from Carlow Town in TE collection. 14 shots are under the whole County Carlow, however at least 4 of them are there by mistake (1 from Giants Causeway, 1 from Powerscourt Garden, 2 are presenting a nice beach, but Carlow has no access to the sea etc.).
Therefore I am especially proud to show you another town which was never seen on TE before.

Hello Mariusz!
That's such a beautiful picture!
The pov was very well chosen and the composition with that iron gate semi-opened is definitely awesome!
Sharpness, exposure, depth of field and colros are excellent! The architecture of the church is quite interesting and truly beautiful too!
TFS - congratulations!
Best regards,

Czesc Mariusz,
Dobra robota no i najwazniejsze- punkcik na mapie;)
Pozdrawiam serdecznie,
D.

hej Mariusz,
no tutaj Panie kolego pierwszy plan poprostu wymiata. Swietnie przemyslane i doskonale pokazane! Ta otwierajaca sie brama jakby nas zapraszala do srodka, do zwiedzenia wnetrza tego kosciola. Bardzo ladna, oryginalna odslona z pieka katedra w stylu gotyckim. Pomysl, realizacja i wykonczenie to naprawde pierwsza klasa.
pozdrawiam serdecznie

Witaj Mariusz,
You use the fence in foreground as aim at the entry of the church, also very lovely sky above the church tower.
You play excellent with light and shadow, sharpness and clarity are superb.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice sunday,
John.

Mariusz,
This is a nicely composed shot using the partially opened gates to lead the eye into the scene. The lighting and colors are great with the deep blue sky providing nice contrast for the stone church.

Bonjour Mariusz.
Le portail entrouvert sur la cathédrale est une bonne idée pour donner de la profondeur avec en plus une perspective qui guide le regard.
Un ciel d'une très grande beauté fait un fond extraordinaire.
Bien réalisé !

You did very well on this photo despite the bare front yard of the Cathedral. The partially opened gate leads the viewers eyes to the Cathedral and lessens the monotony of the bare ground. The technical part of the photo is done very well.

Hi Mariusz
Impressive perspective and colors, with the doors opened like that it seems that they are opened by our way, ideal definition, and colors!!!
