hi noel,
this is a lovely picture. the tree is superbly placed in the frame, and a wonderful shape. just the right amount of hill to stand it on. the sky is fantastic, very moody. the black and white gives the overall image a great atmosphere.

Hello Noel,
Classic black and white presentation, I like the lone tree dorminating the composition, I like the dramatic sky that give a very melancholic mood.

Hello Noel - The branches of this winter tree are wonderful, I love the twists in them and your B&W shot shows them off to perfection. Very nice composition, well done for placing the tree on the margin between land and sky. Kind regards Rosemary

Hi Noel
Welcome on this photographic site
You caught it the right way, crouching to have it on the top of the hill, agaisnt a cloudy sky as background. The transfer into B&W adds a moody touch.
Warm regards

Hi Noel, A fine wintery image. The leafless tree looks stark on the curved hill top. It has emotional effect. TFS. Murray

Hello Noel
Rule of thirds and black and white choice make this an instant classic. For what it's worth I much prefer it to your later post from the same location "Summer tree", which hasn't for me got the drama and graphic qualities of this one.
Good work

Once again Noel you have captured my heart - this is a very nice image of a single tree on a hill - the sky is perfect for this type of black & white shot.
Well done!!!
Kind regards,
Dawn.

Gidday Noel
This could be on the cover of some spooky novel! I love it's simplicity and the great skill that has gone into composing it and getting the light just right. The play of light on the trunk of the tree is particularly suggestive. And those dramatic clouds in the BG certainly help too. Great shot, congratulations. I really like your B&W stuff and the trees around Ireland really have a quality that you don't see on my side of the globe.
Thanks for sharing, cheers
Lisa

Hello Noel. A beautiful nature study in the classic black and white. Before the cloudy sky, the tree looks best. Fine composition. Well seen and realized. Rgds, Wolfgang.

Another striking B & W. The slight asymmetry of the tree trunk placement and the stark winter leafless branches all works together really well.
Lovely

the placement of the tree in the frame, the tree itself, the b n w, the clouds, all very well seen and framed and executed. specially like the curved corner to corner base. u think this is what makes this pic really attractive and different from other such pics, full marks for that.really like the mood.
