Photographer’s Note
A graveyard photo for Halloween, a bit silly perhaps and as I upload there are few time zones left where it is still October, a bit late. Graveyard on Achill island with the Irish "mainland" across the water in the background. The island is connected to the rest of Mayo by a causeway. Overcast afternoon with a few sunbreaks.

Tan,
Welcome back to TE! It is not the same w/o you. The saturation of the hill is beautiful, as are all the colors. I can't make any more comments on your skies, I will just say "ditto".

Unfortunately this is not an Halloween picture. Nothing sinister in this one. Green color is an happy color. So I tried to make this one an Halloween photo in the workshop. (Jean-Pierre)

You haven't been loosing any time down there, how many films did you bring back? The landscape is not particularly appealing, as opposite to most of your posts, but the vivid yet realistic colors render the image quite eye catching. The composition is well balanced.

Wow, I can't believe that I've never come across your portfolio before. I must say it is rather impressive, as is the range of countries you've visited.
As for this shot, it's quite spectacular as are most of your shots. The color is fantastic. I think though if I was taking this shot, it would have been more interesting to get the grave stones closer in the foreground. But still a pretty fantastic shot.

Appropriate subject for Halloween - and a beautiful shot too. The colours are so vivid and the light on the bare hills is wonderful. Great balance in the photo too. This is Great work!

Hi Tan,
Irish light and colors make the shot.
The first plan is well filled with the tombs.
Well done

Hi Tan
This wonderful light does not really fit with Halloween in my opinion, but I'm pleased that you posted this one. I would even say that you succeeded in capturing a non-dramatic or frightening scene with crosses, which is rather rare.
Beautiful indeed.

Hi Tan,
Well an Irish post is obviously fitting as it is where the roots of Halloween are, nice layered composition with excellent light (I wonder whether you always carry Gigawatt able lightning devices with you...) allowing for superb contrasts and the extra local interest added by the celtic crosses.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Bonjour tan,
des couleurs très fortes mais nullement incommodantes même si elles manquent un peu de naturel.
Une manière personnelle de nous faire découvrir cet endroit bourré de symboles.
Magnifique cadrage.
Daniel.

Hello Tan,
superb picture ! Very nice scenery. I'd love to spend some days there, walking and enjoying, and to finish the day : going to a concert of U2...

Luc.

Congratulations, Tan, on posting a Halloween shot without pumpkins. The beautifully saturated colours and sharpness in this is of course your trademark, and this is so beautifully composed on top of that. Cheers . . . David

Hi Tan,
A Halloween treat. The clarity and colours are superb. I like the contrast between the deep blues, greens and browns here. A classic composition which enthralls and entrances. The proportion of foreground with the crosses is just right without detracting from the landscape beauty. Well captured, Tan.

Hi Tan
I hope you had a good time on the halloween too. What an impressive graveyard ... just by the side of the river/sea/lake
I love the mood and the colors in this one
I do think that it would have been more dramatic had you accentuated the contrast between the sunlit and shaded areas in the photo
tfs ... cheers ... sarju
PS: I prefer the coloured one far better than the WS one ... I don't think the WS conveys that spooky mood.

Heeey, you still have some irish gems on your desktop...very good surprise! :O) I gotta go to Achill island one day! Never been there so far! Somehow I am addicted to Kerry and West Cork...:) Unfortunately I have little time for TE these days...in the process of looking for a job! :-P Cheers, Léonie

Always like to see celtic crosses, I must have been a Celt in another life, I think.
Space, freedom, silence, it's all in this magical picture.
(I was looking for Amsterdam-shots, can't find them in your series:-))

Tan,
Wonderful shot! The colours are vivid, and the composition is very good, with foreground, sea and background taking about one third of the image each. Excellent sharpness and lighting, with the dark brooding sky and patchy sunlit landscape. A typical west coast Irish landscape in some ways, particularly in the way the light changes, as the clouds roll by and the sun ducks in and out behind them.
