Photographer’s Note

I have previously criticized tourists travelling through Ireland for focusing exclusively on the coast and omitting some counties especially small and centrally located. But I have to admit that if you have just a limited time to spend in Ireland you should indeed head straight to the west coast. Just for the people who live here longer it makes sens to visit all corners of this country, which is my goal for the next future (see my map).

Drogheda (Droichead Átha in Irish, meaning "Bridge of the Ford") is an industrial and port town in County Louth on the east coast of Ireland, 56 km north of Dublin. County Louth is affectionately called "the Wee County" being the smallest county in Ireland having a total area of only 821 km˛ (317sq miles).

In this picture you can see the De Lacy Bridge over River Boyne in Drogheda town.
