Photographer’s Note
Taaffes Castle (Caislean Taaffe in Irish)
A fortified town house that belonged to the rich mercantile Taaffe family who became Earls of Carlingford in 1661. Its close proximity to the harbour would suggest a trading depot of some kind occurring on the ground floor with the upper floors reserved for residence. It construction suggests 2 phases of construction - the main tower built in the early 16th century while the extension to the side occurred later.
This shot was taken early in the morning when the castle is bathed in softsun light , i removed a modern
mast and sharpened the picture.
thanks for viewing.
