connemara is derived from the name given to an early irish tribal group (the conmacne) that lived in the connacht region of ireland. one particular group lived close to the sea and they became known as the ‘conmacne mara’.
this isolated little cottage, near maam cross, stood out against the greens and browns of the landscape because of its bright red roof and whitewashed walls.

Hello Brian ,
Like a lot this "looks like a painting" picture . An attractive red roofed house , framed by the trees , with picturesque stoned walls in the golden grass . We can feel the wind ...

When I look at your pictures,I have often the sensation to be in front of a painting more than of a photo.I say this because of the grasses of the foreground, sharp but soft, and the wonderful colors. The red roof in the green is splendid.Magnificent!

Lovely landscape with perfect saturated colors. I like the dynamic given by the wind and the plenty of elements from your composition. Well catch, enjoy the weekend.

Hi brian. A green landscape with a red roof always fits. The interplay of the colors shown in your photo very well. But the landscape with stone walls, shrubs and trees is so beautiful. Rgds, Wolfgang.

Beautiful image, dear Brian, looks like a painting done with the brush. Really pleasant the contrast of the red roof with the beautiful shades of green. The folded grass makes us understand that it was a windy day. Excellent work, congratulations!
Ciao, have a nice weekend!

Your note's really interesting, I never knew the reason behind the unusual name Connemara. And what a cute little house you've captured. It's wonderful to see it in such good condition. Even in miniature, the red roof stands out so beautifully against the greenery. The texture here is what I really notice, particularly of all the grass in the foreground being blown so strongly by the wind. It really evokes the idea that we're in some wild and woolly bandit country here. Nice work and thanks so much for bringing us this traditional bit of Ireland.
Have a great weekend

very well spotted. The landscape had a bit exotic touch so I would not even guess that it is Ireland. Although the rocky fences and the architecture of the house would be hints. The light is extraordinary resulting in interesting colors. I have been in Connemara about 5 years ago and I have promised myself to get back there again but first I wanted to see other unseen places, and when I have finally managed the full circle on the island this year the weather was not encouraging.
If one has only patience to the weather, this is such a photogenic country to live in.
Have a great weekend,

une très belle fresque où cette belle palette de verts est agréablement troublée par cette touche de rouge puissant faisant oublier la pâleur de ce ciel, j'aime beaucoup cet endroit.

Hello Brian,my goodness, you have captured in one shot the epitome of what the outside world thinks rural Ireland must look like.
The single storey whitewashed buiding amongst the stone walls is most charming, with a nice level of sharpness and colours.

This beautiful little cottage really does make for a wonderful composition. Like you say the bold red, and the stark white against what looks like a gorgeous but somewhat desolate landscape really makes this snap! Some very interesting notes, and it looks perhaps like a windy and harsh spot. Great! Warm regards,

Bogs, meadows, stones, a few trees, clouds, a typical view of Connemara ! Nice colours. The red roof house attracts our look.

This is a place in Ireland that I have never visited. It looks wonderfully isolated. The red roof ceratinly adds some punch to the image and the green and brown hues are super. A very well managed image with very good sharpness.

Hello Brian, this picture makes me feel like there is a lot of beautiful pictures to take around this picturesque little house! The scenery is very inviting and the red roof gives a wonderful happy note on the rest of the cloudy environment. The soft green shade of green of the grass in contrast with the deep green of the trees is a great highlight!A beautiful shot!
