Another POV on this wonderful lighthouse on the Donegal caost. This time I used a Grad Tobacco filter but toned down its colour in PS. Although I have many other locations to post up from up trip of Ireland I thought I would share this last one with you.

Stephen, I like it sooo much! You managed to well express atmosphere of thunder sea!
balatrek (7447) 2006-06-14 16:04

What a wonderful image. It's like a picture postcard. Superb colours, very poignant indeed. I have run out of greenies but simply had to stop by and applaud.
With Greetings from India

mbasil (2129) 2006-06-14 16:35
Wow, very dramatic. The coastline is nice, and you've done a great job with the light and filter. I don't think I would have included the rock in teh foreground -- but it is clearly a better picture because of it. There's also a contrast that draws me in too -- between the rough seas and the calm feeling of the lighthouse. It never occurred to me before how function follows form here -- navigation of the rough seas tamed by the civilzing influence of lighthouses and the edge of the pastoral green fields.
picardo (2459) 2006-06-14 16:43
I think it is fantastic shot!. The colors and light are fantastic. You've catured a lot of beautiful details. The big waves are a perfect complement for the thretening sky. Great work
robiuk (10807) 2006-06-14 16:45
I'm not fond of tobacco filter in general, therefore I appreciate your toning it down (I would do it even a bit more).
You had some interesting sidelight to help you with shadows and the PP work you did on it only accentuate best features of this view on the lighthouse from the top of the neighbouring cliff.
Absolutely great attention to details both in FG & BG.
Prisley (1485) 2006-06-14 17:02
Wow, great one Stephen! I love the idea of using a gradual tabacco filter. Nicely post-processed afterwards. The composition, POV, DOF and sharpness are PERFECT. Great job ;o)
Moustique (389) 2006-06-14 17:04
excellente photo !
bref, bravo !
Une véritable carte postale !

Very nice shot, good use of the filter and the lights!
Also it has a perfect atmosphere of the sea.

Good afternoon Stephen -
Talk about a moody image! I like the image - composition and DOF but I think you hit the ND filter a bit too hard. The impact of the ND filter is a bit unearthly.
Thanks for sharing

WOOW !
fijiphil (1355) 2006-06-14 18:12
It's a lovely composition, shame though that your filter has coloured the lighthouse a light brown too. How could that be avoided? Take the same shot again without the filter and superimpose the too in Photoshop? Did you need the filter on your lens at all, couldn't you have achieved the same effect completely in PS?
drago (4826) 2006-06-14 18:23
Stephen hi and what a fantastic composition!Like an old painting!Absolutely great
peter1892 (1681) 2006-06-14 18:27
Hi Stephen - it's another wonderful shot. The composition works well, with the lighthouse as the focal point but also including the background & foreground areas as extra points of interest. A dramatic coastal landscape. The colouring provided by the filter is good too.
agbonavita (0) 2006-06-14 18:43
Fantastic! One of most pretty phot I have seen here in TE.
pboehringer (770) 2006-06-14 20:28
Simply spetacular. Could you post the original as a WS to see what an impact your WS did on it?
chaity (1539) 2006-06-15 2:08
Hi Stephen, I like the moody look of this photo. The filter did give a lot of details on the clouds. Nice POV and dramatic waves.
Tracker (1942) 2006-06-15 2:18
Nice stormy picture, especially articulated sky. Well composed, good low light. Thanks.
dkeus31 (27735) 2006-06-15 6:57
A superb image, all looks quite amazing: the sky, the nice foreground, the well placed tower.
Into my favorites.
carper (96) 2006-06-15 7:10
marvelous shot, Stephen
the light effect is great, the composition is very good and yes the atmosphere is marvelous, this is one of you best photo's, I think I can say that, fantastic job my friend,
roamermark (1590) 2006-06-15 11:32
It's a beauty. All the elements of a really spectacular shot are there. I think maybe the lighthouse is a bit dark witht he filter but that is my only nitpick. I love the shot
dliu216005 (214) 2006-06-16 0:51
Very dramatic sky, and I like how everything is in sharp focus from the front to back. The composition is well done, the rock in the front adds color and weight to the photo, thanks for sharing.
Yffic (6106) 2006-06-16 2:45
Two points because POV is awesome, but one point because Tobacco filter is too visible...
I love this place.
Elaine_Blath (8509) 2006-06-16 4:21
wow, what a great stormy atmosphere with beautiful colours! I like it a lot...amazing place and picture alike!
Vicky (1442) 2006-06-17 14:11
Wonderfully clear, sharp image and you've certainly got the best effect from your filter. Great composition, the rocks really look good, and so does the sea, I can almost hear it crashing against the rocks. The light was kind to you and show the colours well. Super shot. Best wishes, Vicky

Bravo !
Robpulp (1043) 2007-01-10 12:28
wow! amazing. going in my favourates for sure well done.
jdwyer264 (1082) 2007-03-09 4:52
Great atmosphere here, the crashing waves are almost audible!
Good colour and light, I think the frame is out of place, Looks a bit like barb wire for some reason. A plain black frame around the whole shot I think would be better.

To be honest with you I think the tobacco filter got too intense on the upper part of the photo...
