ABOUT THE TITLE
It gets more and more interesting: previous upload was called the Bloody Foreland and now I have the Witch Mountain. But this time the title was just my invention. Few years ago there was a movie titled “Race to the Witch Mountain” and I thought it may fit well here with a small modification.
In the reality this mountain is called Errigal.
DID I CLIMB THE PEAK?
I expect some of you may ask if I went to the top. Well I intended but I have turned back. First of all walking in Ireland is kind of tricky as the trails are not marked at all. Secondly: many mountains are surrounded by some boggy areas. Practically it means that the areas are always wet. For example in the Wicklow Mountains there is this lake which has the shape of the heart. Darek1978 presented it in his TE gallery. To get there you have to be ready that you will get immersed in the mud relatively deep. He told me he got his legs completely into the mud. We have attempted to get there several times but after getting into the mud up to ankles we have turned around. Once we spent a whole day searching for a suitable passage. In the end a trail which would take one hour took several hours, but we managed to get there. Here it was same story with the trail to the Errigal summit: it started in a field of bog. We attempted to find a passage but then after seeing people coming back from the mountain who were at least until their waist covered with mud, we decided that we are not as determined. I guess preparing a well marked trail with some rocks making it more passable would encourage people to walk in Irish mountains. But spending time outdoor for obvious reasons is not very popular in Ireland so maybe that is why nobody thought about it yet. Instead they have a well developed pubbing culture as they call it here.
MORE INFO ABOUT THE MOUNTAIN
Mount Errigal, or simply Errigal (Irish: An Earagail, possibly meaning "oratory") is a 751 metres (2,464 ft) mountain near Gweedore in County Donegal. It is the tallest peak of the Derryveagh Mountains, the tallest peak in County Donegal, and the 76th tallest peak in Ireland. Errigal is well-known for the pinkish glow of its quartzite in the setting sun. Another noted quality is the ever-changing shape of the mountain depending on what direction you view it from. Errigal was voted 'Ireland's Most Iconic Mountain' by Walking & Hiking Ireland in 2009.

I like the diagonal of the road in your framing, and the deep and dynamic perspective created by the curve, in a composition that leads our look towards the mountain in background, in the middle of a really superb landscape.
The image has a great sharpness, a very pleasant light and a few very natural colors, perfectly managed.
You have done an excellent work.

its always a joy to read your notes, very often they provide an interesting story.
such as here, about all that mud! I dont blame you at all for not wanting to be mud covered!
absolutely love this scene you're captured.
were you low to the ground here? its a wonderful perspective.
the road, the depth, the curve, the mountain, the clouds, the pale blues...everything is perfectly captured.
high quality workmenship.
well done my friend

Hi dear Mariusz
This is a great shot of Errigal. The winding road leads the eye across the frame and towards that magnificent mountain. I love the colours, the blue sky (wow) with those little clouds. The depth of field and details - especially on the mountain - is stupendous. My nieces recently climbed the mountain for charity. They said it was really difficult and bl**dy cold.
Have a great day

takie widoki sa cudne, droga prowadzaca do Witch Mountain musiala byc ciekawa. Sliczne ujecie. Podoba mi sie ten widok. Pogoda dopisala, piekne niebo, roslinnosc. Swietnie wykonane zdjecie, bez zarzutu.

A simple but masterly composition, with so many pleasing elements, like the winding road, the foreground flowers, the yellow lines emerging from the lower corner. Excellent exposure of the green tones and the sky. The mountain is so well made the dominant focal point in this picture of wide open spaces. Nice work, and very good note too!

the title reminded me that movie you mention on the note, this is a good image with a point of view well chosen, the road and the mountain catch the attention, well seen,

Lubię takie kadry, ostatni taki wrzuciłem ze Skye. Niska pozycja długi dół i góra w tle iście dopracowana kompozycja.

You had good weather in Donegal at last ! I stayed a few days there a few years ago (in the hostel down the mountain) and I had great time there, the road from Dungloe is absolutely fantastic and the mountain is incredibly beautiful, in particular when the weather is sunny. You chose a very good POV with the road that drives the look to the mountain. Light and colours are great, sharpness is excellent. I didn't climb Errigal neither. But not for the reasons you said, I was just lazy lol
Thanks for sharing,

The composition is brilliant, with the road, the curve and the flowers of the foreground. The photo is deep, and it is a pleasure to see the mountain under this magnificent cloudy sky. Excellent quality also. Bravo.
Have a nice evening

This pretty tall mountain, with such steep slopes, looks very impressive in your picture, which is composed perfectly well. As usual, your composition has a great foreground and beautiful sky, where there are at least three types of clouds. The photographic qualities are excellent, especially exposure and sharpness. Very well done!

No i jakieś zielsko ładnie kwitnie przy drodze, podobne do żarnowca.
adramad (47714) 2011-08-04 8:55
Wonderful image of this mountain, this mixture of colors gives a special charm, the perspective of the road gives a good effect of DOF, fields with shrubs are resistant to harsh climate of the country, sorry for the difficulties hiking in the country, with the interesting places they have, your interesting note and makes it clear that they prefer to go to the pub.
The sky is superb with that color and beautiful clouds, if an ideal image with a colorful and fantastic lighting. Nice big picture.

Excellent photo job here, again, to present this beautiful irish spot!
Everything pleases me, but, above all, the chosen pov, colors and composition!
TFS - congrats,
