This is probably the most beautiful location I have visited on my last trip to Donegal. I have spent there at least one hour and took more than hundred photos searching for an optimal POV. Still not very happy with what I got. Just now watching the photos on the screen I got some good ideas how to photograph this place. The most valuable in this upload is thus probably the map of this secret location (see panel in the right). We have seen plenty of tourist cars on the main road and yet nobody for the whole time noticed this particular side street leading to the spectacular view. So we had this place for ourselves. The beach which you see in this photo is huge and the white color is not the sand but relatively large rocks. Unfortunately this photo does not give the feeling of the scale so in the uploaded workshop I show you how the white beach texture looks at the bottom.
In the internet I have found the following explanation of the name: Bloody Foreland gets its name from the legend of the giant who was slain by the fairies and his blood trickled down the famous foreland hill. No more details. Not sure if it is same giant who was residing at the Giants Causeway... Some guidebooks use the name Bloody Foreland for the whole peninsula. One of the maps of Ireland which I have, names the peninsula Gweedore and the Bloody Foreland is used for this particular headland which you see here. The reason is obvious: as this beach is facing west, the reddish color of the rocks get dramatically emphasized at the sunset. The only problem is: I spent the sunset at the other beach and there was no sunset visible at all as the clouds were so thick. I would not mind driving 4 hours one way from Dublin just to be there at the sunset if I only knew that the weather will allow me to see it...

un paysage sauvage, presque vierge de toute trace humaine et on les aime comme cela, il faut se dire qu'ls seront de moins en moins nombreux.
Excellentes lumières, même si l'herbe au premier plan aurait pu être plus chlorophylisée.

Very good POV on this lovely cove with beautiful color contrasts and a nice layout.
Thinks for sharing

The chosen POV is spectacular, indeed, and I do not know if you would have found another better than this one.
The panorama that you offer us is really beautiful, with this abrupt landscape of the Irish coast, and the rock beach, as we can see very well in the WS.
The luminosity of a splendid sunny day and the vivid colors provide a great aesthetic quality to your composition.
An excellent work, my friend.

Hello MAriusz ,
As you write in your note , we don't get the feeling of scale . And I suppose that the place is more impressive in the reality . Nevertheless , this is a splendid POV of this beautiful wild beach .

On voudrait cet endroit pour nous-mêmes. Pouvoir être seuls à en profiter. Le point de vue est impeccable et les couleurs très belles.

I hitchhiked along this coastline on a sunny and beautiful day 43 years ago. There were no tourist cars at all and hardly any local cars either, which meant a very long walk. It was on a beach like this that my friend and I spent the night in our sleeping-bags. However I didn't take any picture nearly as fine as this. The POV is well chosen and the colours are perfect.

stunning scenery captured magnificently. Love the striking blues and greens here. An idyllic shot and so perfectly presented. Well done!
Have a great week - regards Brian.

Cette photo résume un peu la beauté sauvage des côtes irlandaises. J'aime beaucoup le jeu des couleurs jusqu'au rouge du sang du géant.

Do not have regrets for the beautiful presentation of this sporadically in the Cape in Ireland.
Image quality is excellent and its composition.
Nice follow-up article on how the Cape got its name.
There will be days and sunsets.
Probably we all have the same problem when photos of the places where we do not go often.
We are late in effective usage of some things and get ideas, only after we get home.

Hello dear Mariusz
Now this place brings back some happy memories, although the times I have been here, it has been wild and windy. It's amazing to see the area so calm and...sunny! Beautiful colours and you have captured the details of those impressive cliffs so well. I truly hoped you enjoyed your time in Donegal and hope you come back soon...preferably when I'm there too :)

Good morning Mariusz,
lovely pebble beach with the clear waters and the rock in the sea to create depth in the image.I like the brilliant light and colour management as the beauty of the place.
Have a good day,Danos

You have found a really picturesque and quite solitary place. The composition that includes so many interesting and nice details, such as colorful rocks in the sea, seems to be very well thought-out and balanced. Good light, beautiful colors and perfect quality of the capture!
adramad (40596) 2011-08-02 8:41
A stunning and beautiful scenery, secluded beach is idyllic, but I guess even in summer the water will be cold anyway proud with these great cliffs that protected the beach.
Beautiful color of the sea and good color in the rest of the composition, wonderful light on a beautiful day.
P / D. I saw your post above the square of Tomar and I have to congratulate you for a wonderful composition, I like your frame than mine, but when I was building on the left had a lot of decompensation of light.

I don't know if there is a better POV there but this one looks real nice!
I like how the beach is surrounded by the foreground cliff up to the background headland... Well framed picture!
jemaflor (89315) 2011-08-03 12:12
Nice beach taken from a good pov, beautiful colors with this brightness green and blue, tfs.
annjackman (20899) 2011-08-03 12:22
This landscape flows beautifully within the frame because of your well chosen POV. The eye is drawn into the centre where the blue sea looks crystal clear. The light and colours have been very well managed. Very good capture - TFS.
npecanhuk (69914) 2011-08-04 18:23
Truly beautiful picture of it!
Sharpness, exposure, chosen pov, colors, horizontal format, contrasts and, above all, composition are all excellent and really pleased me!
TFS - congrats,

A good view from high above...the white sandy beach seems nicely engulfed between the FG & the extended tongue like ridge in the BG. The presence of those rocky outcrops in the sea is interesting! I wonder how this place looked like before the landmass was decimated by the waves.. A beautiful picture with a fine palette of colours!
nikkitta (16758) 2011-09-14 20:32
Hope you find soon a good and interesting job
In the meanwhile I have time to look at your incredible nice photos
Great note to introduce the subject of the capture, it has a great POV to best appreciated the incredible landscape
Cant believe the beach has so big stones until watching the WS, good idea to do it
Greetings and all the best
Don't complain so much about the weather, just see you on the beach under a great blue sky and plenty of sun : )
