Ciao Lisa,
mi piace molto questa composizione verticale con delle pietre in primo piano. La chiesa, compressa fra il primo piano e la montagna sullo sfondo, è ben disposta sul fotogramma, i colori sono belli. Brava!
un saluto,

Hi Lisa,
Very interesting note about the reason they took the roof down!
The moment I saw the thumbnail, I knew this was Ireland - although I've never been there. It doesn't have the "typical" Irish colours (mostly green, I guess) but it screams "Ireland".
The vertical composition is interesting, I don't think I would have thought of that. I guess I would have left a bit more space to the left but maybe there was something ugly you wanted to eliminate?
Anyway, great shot, thanks for sharing!
Best,
Claudia

Hi Lisa
Only in Ireland you would have to pay tax for having a roof.
Interest photo, looks almost like a painting.
Well done

Good morning Lisa!
A very interesting and somehow sad picture of a really worth-showing place. The vertical format works very well here in order to show also the surroundings of the ruin. Thank you for the interesting note!
Greetings from rainy and grey Germany!

Hello Lisa,
A good capture of this country church set in such a beautiful landscape. The vertical format is well suited to the composition and provides depth. Good light and colours. The things people get up to to avoid paying tax ;-)

Lisa,
Great shot of this church in ruin. The vertical format worked well for you here accentuating the height of the scene. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF.

Hello Lisa
It's a very pleasant picture. The vertical format is really a good idea.
You've chosen a very good point of view so that the church perfectly stands out against the mountain.
Colours and light are outstanding, you've done a great light managment.
A great shot about Ireland.

Hello Lisa ,
A beautiful ruin , in a wild landscape . Very pleasant colors and an excellent contrast . I should like to see this view in another format , too . May be that yhe churchtower is a little too close to the frame .
Best regards

Hi Lisa,
I've seen builings without roofs for many reasons, but avoiding taxes is something I haven't heard before. Beautiful landscape on a rare sunny December day. Vertical framing fits well. To be honest I didn't even know Ireland has such mountaineous landscapes.

Ciao Lisa,
Funny way of taxing folks in Ireland - no roof, no tax? Could you live in a basement and get away without giving the government it's due?
This is another nice image, too. I really like the way you composed this one with the ruins of the church as the focal point after my eyes are led from either the slope of the hill above or the rocks in the field below. Nice colors, clarity and contrast!
Cheers!

Hello Lisa,
Nice view with a good lightning increasing the impact of the autumn colors. However, I am not fully convince by the vertical frame putting the church near the middle and close to a border. I would have prefer the church more on the bottom or in a horizontal frame (if nothing annoying just outside the frame).

Hi Lisa,
We saw this cute church many times on TE (have a look on Dunlewy instead of Dunlewey), but it is the first time we can see it from this point of view, with the bottom of Errigal Mountain behind. Very nice framing.

Olivier

Ciao Lisa,
la vista della montagna che fa da sfondo al rudere, è molto bella e quindi la scelta del taglio verticale è una buona scelta per rendere più efficace l'inserimento di tale montagna.
Ottimo lo scorcio di cielo a creare contrasto.

Hi Lisa,
I think I read somewhere that land taxes in Italy were levied on the width of the houses street frontage, trust the Irish to level it on wether the building has a roof or not.
Excellent POV, the remains of the church look wonderful in this setting. Somehow I never imagined brown grass in Ireland, live and learn eh. I like your composition too, the placement of the main subject is perfect in the way it's dominated by the mountain in the background.
Nice work.
Cheers

Hi Lisa,
Interesting how a roof make a difference when it come to taxes. Nice composition showing a strong background to this ruined building. The warm tones of the image are very pleasant and your point of view captured an interesting foreground as well. Thanks Lisa :-)

Hello Lisa
You tell an interesting story of a picturesque church. The barren slope behind really highlights the scene. The church seems to almost jump out of the frame and I am wondering what post-processing techniques you used? Tfs, Marlene

Ciao Lisa, When I first looked at this I thought lovely old church although in ruins but I cheated & read your later posting on why the roof is missing, it must be an Irish joke, right?
Anyway nice shot with the church well placed in the frame & in between an interesting FG & BG. Good contrast & natural looking colour.
Brava.
Un caro saluto

Hello Lisa
The grandeur of the hill belittles the little church and the church looks defiant against the grandeur of the hill, both of them will be nothing without each other, you've captured that tense relationship well.
Thanks for sharing
