It's good to be back on TE after my adventure in Europe. I love travelling, but it's good to be home.
This is a photo taken on Lough Eske in the north-west of County Donegal. In recent years, two luxury resorts have been built on these shores, Solis and Harvey's Point. Personally, I prefer the beauty of the lough itself. There is an old legend that these waters contain a monster, related to the famous monster of Loch Ness in Scotland. Unfortunately, there has been no real evidence that "Eskie" exists, but the misty surrounds certainly set the imagination afire.
PS: There are 2 dust spots above the horizon, I missed them, sorry.

beautiful landscape. Interesting atmosphere due to limited light available. I like also the fog on the horizon -altoghether it creates a mystical mood. The sky has the white color which is difficult to photographed well but you did a fantastic job turning the challenging conditions to your advantage.
It is your second visit to Ireland since I know you and I seem to be literally further and further from meeting you :(

the best part about this picture, which I liked is the clarity and the sharpness. The reflections in the water are superb. Excellent dof.

How super to see you back here Lisa, I've missed you! A landscape that is so serene and Irish. I can imagine myself standing here and soaking up the poetic atmosphere. The light is soft and the cloudy skies remind me how much my skin enjoyed the dampness in the air. A landscape shot with deep, calm beauty. Warmest regards Rosemary

Complimenti sei sempre irraggiungibile.
Peccato non averti potuto conoscere di persona. Spero ci sia una futura occasione.
Un abbraccio ed un saluto

Ciao Lisa, bentornata! Capolavoro!! Buon Venerdi' e complimenti,Luciano

I have been looking forward to seeing some images from your recent trip and this one does not disappoint. The rolling hills and cloud formation provide an atmospheric BG for this tranquil lough. Quiet colours and excellent sharpness all make for a picture to savour. Beautiful.
Best wishes, Ann

Hi dear Lisa
Belle soirée a toi

Hello dear Lisa,
a wonderful moody picture of amazing clarity. The visual exploration of this beautiful place is very rewarding, we can see and observe so many big and little natural elements, from the delicate reeds and leaves in the foreground, to the fine texture of the water, to the landscapes and misty hills in the distance. The silvery and dark tones evoke melancholy and tranquility, the fresh greens are eye-catching and delightful. You've captured the subtle tonal variations superbly. Congratulations and thank you! It's not the quantity of photos that matters but the opportunities to find themes that speak to your heart and mind and the results that make you happy. I'm sure we'll see lovely pictures from your travels.
All the best, have a lovely day,

Nice mood in this photo ... the distant mist ... the ripples in the water. Your vantage point is very good. Well done!

Ciao Lisuccia cara
bentornata, spero vada tutto bene.

Atmospheric vision of Tir Chonaill, for the dark rock and tree outlines across the waters, then the distant cloud shrouded mountains.
Welcome back to Oz,

Gidday deqar Lisa,
Even though I mentioned it yesterday, it's worth repeating..."welcome back, good to have you around again!" :) Good to be home, but just as well to have the pictures to preserve your memories, and I'm anxious to follow along as you post some here!
The grey cast certainly gives off that Loch Ness vibe, and the deep contrast helps set a mysterious mood here....hmmm, what could be swimming around these waters?? :) A very relaxing atmosphere portrayed, the calm of the waters surface brings it all together. Looking forward to many more. Have a great day. Take it easy.
Cheers from the U.S.,

Welcome back! Good to see you had a great trip to Nessie's cousin play ground. Beautiful scenery and depth, I can only just imagine you sitting there have lunch, a bottle of wine and take in this very appealing view minus the monster! A beautiful composition although the weather was not on your side but the general clarity proved reasonably kind for you. I like the way you have framed the loch with the fg interest, especially the touch of green makes it so different and lovely. But I rather like the outcome of it seems to suit the mood which works beautifully in this almost monochromatic format, however for me the exposure has masked the beauty that was. Wonderful capture, such a peaceful scene. Congrats

Namaste ! Its a great scene,a bit gloomy but still lovely.Nice image, sharp with good details, well saturated colors and nice composition. Fine natural colors and good composition. Well done.TFS.

Ciao cara Lisa, Hurra, you are back with photos! Yes, travelling is wonderful but how great is to be back home, when everything is OK and you have full SD cards. Splendid shot in your style. Very romantic atmosphere.

Good evening Lisa,
Took me long minutes to look for the two dust spotted - never found them. I think the photo is well applied, you might not have to add the fact about the spots - who would see them anyway.
That's kept me bussy...
Fabulous mild light scenery over the lake, smooth surface and calm water's, always beautiful to landscape in far countries.
Cheers, have a nice weekend,

Ah Lisa - back to Ireland again. Did you get further south this time? But then Donegal looks beautiful and this is a good moody advertisement for it.

Welcome back Lisa, really missed you.
Lovely shot of a really beautiful part of Ireland. Misty and mysterious, being the very essence of tranquillity. Have friends living in this area and really should take them up on their offer to stay with them and explore. Glorious!
gojo (1317) 2013-10-04 3:23
Wherever I look on this image, there is beauty. Great composition!
Noel_Byrne (13314) 2013-10-04 5:47
Dia Duit Lisa,
Great to see you post again, and what a post. I feel like there should be a warning in the corner saying "here be monsters", and what better monster than a relative of Nessie himself! It seems the whole Scottish Irish connection goes deep, from our people to our religions and even into our monsters. Well, sharing is caring I guess.
The mist off in the mountains makes this scene very magical for me, it looks like a Lord of the Rings kind of vibe, while the water in the foreground is so calm. Deceptively calm perhaps. As I look at this, I can almost hear the mournful Uilleann pipes from the distance. Great shot.

Ciao Lisa, affascinante, magnifici riflessi e magica atmosfera, bravissima, buon week end, un abbraccio Silvio

Well composed using the rule of thirds with excellent sharpness and attractive minimalist colors. Excellent graphism of the dark fg rock protruding from the limpid water. The fg vegetation adds depth and layering. The overcast skies compensated you with a superb diffused light. Have a fantastic weekend!
macjake (45588) 2013-10-04 11:49
Where's Noel? Noel? You there buddy?
Is he hiding in this photo pretending to play Where's Waldo?
How fitting that your first posted photo of Ireland upon return contains some rocks and water! lol
You know this is Ireland and not Aussie Land right!?
If there could be any photographer that could locate a rocky beach scene in the middle of a desert, I'd put my money on you!!
with all the joking aside, its a fine shot. I really like the mood and the overall setting, and of course when you add in the haunting/weird story of a possible monster, its only that much better.
Its not Noel is it? lol
Ok, enough of that...
great to have you back, and as Jason mentioned it'll be fun to be on your horsetails to see what you'll have posted along your journeys.
thanks for the kind remarks regarding Scooby. Its still a struggle emotionally, Tosca is devastated.
Scooby was our buddy with no judgements made. He should have been here for another 2 years or so.
Trying to convince Tosca to go on a short trip to get in a positive mindset. Looking into Cuba for December, I hope she'll agree to go.

So you have been in Europe, I hope you have enjoyed it.
I like this nice tranquil land- waterscape in perfect light and well balanced colors. Superb reflections. Nicely done.
I wish you very nice, relaxing weekend.

nice to see you back after long, but as we see great vacation in Europe(I´ve also just returned from my trip to Greece).
This is really beautiful landscape!
The mist in the far background and the clouds help you to create so unique, kind of mysterious mood of the scene.Love it!
Another great aspect of the image, which attracts my attention is water(not only the reflections, but also its surface and how it shows the movement).
Have a nice weekend

Ciao Lisa !!
Great timing..... that is to be in this place at the right time of the day.... the atmosphere is so serene and the fog in the background adds a bit of mystique.
Very good control of the light.Nice scenery.

tyro (15703) 2013-10-08 6:22
Ciao cara Lisa,
I'm glad to see that you have arrived back home safely after your trip to Ireland and mainland Europe. I only regret that we didn't have the chance to meet up and I must also apologise for having been a little less active than usual on TE of late.
This is a delightful and very moody photograph. Of course, I simply had to "Google" Tír Chonaill and discovered that this ancient kingdom was founded by a son of Niall of the Nine Hostages, Conall Gulban, and his descendants ruled the kingdom till the Flight of the Earls in September 1607, which marked the end of the kingdom.
The low light and the deep tones add to the mysterious atmosphere and you have composed this picture beautifully. The distant view is magnificent and the foreground rocks stand out perfectly against the bright water adding great depth to the image.
Fabulous light and colours, perfect exposure and, as always, exquisite details and sharpness.
danos (78112) 2013-10-08 9:49
very nice the view as the presentation of Lough Eske with the tranquility and the calmness to are spread all over the scene.
The created reflections, the claudy sky and the light management makes the image so effective and unique.
Didi (51265) 2013-10-31 10:21
Very nice Irish ambiance with this particular weather
Good deep aquatic foreground
No matter with the dust spots :)
