This is the Strokkur geysir at Geysir, Iceland. About three seconds before it erupts (see my other TE geysir shots for more info) it begins to form a massive bubble. That is what can be seen in the middle of this shot. I tried to capture the bubble at its apex, and it erupted approximately one second after I took this picture. I really enjoyed the Geysir area of Iceland and this Geysir series is one of my personal favorites of all my photos because they all came out quite clear and I was shooting without a tripod. Small personal victory :)

Nice composition Michael, with the Geyser to the right of center and a good low perspective but for me the image is to flat (probably due to trying to maintain detail in the harsh backlight)and the contra jour light on the stones has far to much to say and overwhelms the actual steam.
Difficult conditions to cope with at the best of times.
I'll try a workshop to see if we can shift the balance of power a bit

I love this shot. Seems we are in an other world. The darks side of the picture add to this picture.
