Sólheimajökull, an outlet glacier from Mýrdalsjökull ice cap.
The thousend years old ice is coated with black lava ash, which comes from vulcanic eruptions below the glaciers ice cap. |

Interesting, nice colours but it's hard to estimate how big it really is. Some human in the frame would help. If there was nothing to indicate the scale, you could write it in the note.

Hi Jochen,
Beautiful abstract colours and textures you’ve captured here. Particularly from the thumbnail it looks like there’s a play of light and shadow over the ice and ash surface. I remember seeing a similar effect on one of the glaciers in Skaftafell park.
Personally I like the fact that there’s no reference to scale as this enhances the feeling of an abstract composition.
