[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Breidarlón is a glacier lake, not as large and famous as Jökulsárlon, but I found it very beautiful.

It is to be found on the south east coast of Iceland, just along road 1 and a few minutes drive before Jökulsarlón (if you are driving from west towards east).

The glacier is a small part of Vatnajökull called Fjallsjökull.
This view was breathtaking, until then I had not been closer to a glacier, and the sight was spectacular, even though the weather wasn't the best.
The glacier was glowing, lightblue between the dark lava mountains, the lake was still, icebergs everywhere and with the clouds hanging on the top of our heads (almost) it felt like we were standing in a different world.
I have never seen anything like it.

To the techs - auto levels, increased saturation +10, resized and cropped for TE, USM, added a frame.
Please tell me what you think.

A wonderful shot Frida. The wheather seems very Icelandic but the clouds also adds to the feeling in the picture. I like the graphical triangels of ice and mountain repeating. The big foreground is nice too but you could crop half way if you like, between the sets of icepieces.

Beautyfull and very unfriendly landscape. Those low dark clouds look really frightening. I personally think, that this photo should include the mountain top (imaginable, as it is hidden in the cloud) - without it it looks a little bit uncomlpete. But, except from that this photo is just great!

hello frida
this place seems to be spectacular all thanks to this photograph. what i like most about this image is the shade of the reflection in the water. it's adding a beautiful contrast to this photograph
nice :)
take care

I like the scene, especially the colors here. I might try to elaborate on these colors more, but in fact you did it fine, Frida. I miss some sharpness here better releasing lightblue pieces of ice. Clouds in the background add quite a drama feeling here.
thanks for sharing

Wow, Frida. this is how I have seen Iceland on a lot of pictures, very well rendered with those beautiful colour of the little icebergs and the Gletscher, and the low hanging clouds, very beautiful.
You're a lucky woman to be able to go to iceland on quite a few occasions.

"Not so famous as Jökulsárlon" (I'm stumbling...)...I never heard of these lakes:-)))
A landscape with different parts, the (I think) very cold water, the bleuish ice, the "dark" mountain and some green in the right covered with some mysterious clouds, it's a nice landscape and I can imagine, that this must be spectacular, if you are there, I wish I was there too. Nice "dark" and of course, "nordic" (as you say this) picture, Frida.

What a wonderful and at the same time almost surreal landscape, Frida. A very unique color setting with the contrast between the blue hues in the glacier and the dark lava hill, and a special atmosphere to which the low-hanging clouds contribute quite a bit. I also like the subtle reflections in the lower part. Very impressive, thanks for sharing!

You have a superb quality of light here, even (or because) if the sky is so low.
It gives a welcome "dramatism" to the photo, still bigger with the cloud on the mountain.
Excellent, Frida !

I totally agree Frida, this is really dramatic cool ice.

Even though i don't find the landscape beautiful (it looks very unfriendly, cold and wet) the photo in itself is very well made and good composed (IMHO). I like the hint of green in the background vanishing in the misty clouds.

Beutiful, I like the whole arctic atmosphere, and the dark refexions of the mountain in water, with its impressive and threatening note. Very well done.

Hello Frida, La composition de ton image est parfaite,c'est magnifique, il y manque peut-ętre un pe de netteté ma ça ne gčne pas la qualité de ton travail. Amicalement/jr

Wow, stunning landscape. The blue-ish colour of the glacier is something that has been fascinating me for quite some time now. You've captured the coldness and the desolation very well in your picture. Although I see in your note that you have already used USM, I think you could have pushed it a little further. I made a very quick WS for your to illustrate this.

Nice shot Frida, I love the feeling of claustrophobia in a landscape. The low sky pressing down on the shot and the ice almost ontop of the water give a feeling of pressure that is very effective.
It looks a bit soft and I might be inclined to sharpen it a bit to increase the bite of the shot.
Well seen and captured.

And well found:)
Very well captured,a great atmosphere you creat,Frida!
Well done!a fine composition you managed, too.I like it.

Mohammad

Thanks Frida for coming by.Its nice to be in TE. One moment I could be enjoying warm summer sun and the next, cold grey hard landscape like this. And the most funniest part, it is just as beautiful as the warmth ones. Thank you for sharing Frida.

Superb Frida composition, really, the moment chosen for the photograph enables you to obtain splendid colors very contrasted, one could think that the foreground misses a little clearness, but in fact this nuance makes it possible to add a mysterious aspect to the composition. Very, very, well seen. Thank's Frrida

How did I miss this one! Another gem you've captured from Iceland.

Wonderful shot. It's so cold, so empty, so lonely, but so beautiful. Very well composed, cuting the top and spoting on the water surface and elements on it guiding to the glacier. The cold colours also obviously add to the particular mood of this scenery. Congraulations Frida.

Its cold
unfriendly
maybe the wind is also cold ,o)

a great shot Frida
i had to watch the picrure
you took in Iceland, simple but beautifull

well done

Simon

Fantastic place ! I like the beautiful colours and composition !
Congratulations.

The compression created some problems in the clarity of this image. But this an easely corrected thing. The main issue, the composition, is very nice as well balanced. Impressive view.

simply brilliant. amazing landscape. i like dark reflection on the water which create wonderful feeling. almost like i m there.

The thing that strikes me in your picture is the mix of colors of the glacier: blue, black and white. It is special but very beautiful too. There is this calm water in foreground transporting these little ice blocks combined with the dramatic sky.

Well is a spendid composition Frida.

Very good shot, dramatic and amazing colors!

A very nice landscape.. I can't wait to be there to be able to experience it.. You also framed it very well.

By the way ? How do you manage in Iceland? Do you speak the language or you can get by with Swedish?

Very Icelandic environment with these low clouds which cling to the black mountains. In spite of the bad weather, you made a very beautiful picture thanks to a beautiful composition and a light emanating of the bluish ice. Bravo.

great beautiful view.
i like the compo and DOF.
tonage of color is great too.

Hi Frida,
Beautiful photo and place,
very nicely captured, maybe a bit soft due to the scan, but otherwise excellent shot.
