you're absolutely right, it seems just Noe's Ark in a a great landscape! The sunset warm light create an incredible atmosphere. The clouds are apocalypticly dramatic and thanks to your good angle, you’ve seized it perfectly.

Hello Anellise. A very striking image of this old boat. You captured it really well with that incredible sunset in a stormy sky, but managed to keep the details of the boat. I don't know why one of the other comments has mentioned HDR, although you must have done a little post processing on this on. It's a very good picture.

Hi Anellise,
I think you made a right decision by staying in TE. The image with its religious reference makes your beholders gape in awe. But i am sure that you want to hear some real critiques here >:D
1-The horizon is tilted. If you happen to include a seascape in your photo, you MUST pay attention to the horizon, even if it is of secondary concern. But i guess, you wanted to keep the ship standing straight, therefore you did not intend to normalize the tilt...
2- The sunny place is (slightly, not so much) overexposed. But who does not like an overexposed sun? And if you arranged your exposure value according to the sun, the other places in the photo would be totally lost in darkness. In addition, the overexposure may not be criticized if you add a holy meaning to that light. The Holy light should look as bright as it can :))

The crop, layers of clouds and different lights, placing of the ark, and overall, the realization of the idea are just superb. Congrats :)

Very striking image. I like the positioning of the boat and the capture of the "deity rays" coming from the clouds. I notice that the horizon tilts a bit on the right. I think that is just barrel distortion from the wide angle that you can pretty easily fix in PS. I really like how you have captured the wonderful clouds.

Fantastic capture and great portrait of the subject. the Clouds in the back drop with the sun light ripping through them is making the whole scene great. The whole frame does have a biblical look to it.

This dramatic lighting really gives the photo an interesting mood. As if the flood has finally started to subside and now the light from heaven is shining down to earth. I love the composition and the crop. The tilted horizon doesn't bother me much because the boat appears to be straight up and down still.

Hi Anellise,

This is a very interesting old boat, especially since it is sitting alone on the beach - it makes me curious as to its history. I think what really makes the shot is that you chose a beautiful sky for a background. Under other conditions the boat would still be interesting, but this background seems to create a sunset/retirement metaphor for the boat and its time at sea. Great composition.

I like this image, there is sun and the luminous touch that comes with it, but it is also very dramatic thanks to these dark clouds and their contrasts against the sun, and the well framed old boat with decayed structures fits very well to this dramatic aspect, to me it's one of the best images you have posted here and for that you deserve my congratulations !

Hello Anellise,

"Do I remember the story of Noah? Indeed, I was the scientific advisor on an expedition in 1984 to Mt. Ararat in Eastern Turkey. Also on the expedition was the was the American astronaut who went to the moon and left his car there. This is a spectacular shot, the best rendition of the fabled ark I have seen anywhere. I intend to put it among my favorites, as soon as I can make some room. The light, the colors, the resolution are so beautiful, and it appears like the Ark survived and settled on this rocky land, as the rain finaly cleared up. I had no idea this had been built there. It's fabulous,

Ohh, Anellise, I missed many good shots from you while I was away!! I'll start with this one.
The light is so nice and well controlled all over it! You have some washed out zones, but it is not bothering, and considering the low light, it is understandable.
The boat is really majestic and the light in the background really makes it mysterious. Like you say in the note, it kind of recall of all its adventures, before it landed there...

Oh, I love this one, Anes - the mood and the contrast are wonderful, and I like the low POV to push the boat up into the sky. You've handled a difficult exposure exceptionally well here. The only fault in this image is the slightly tilted horizon which could be easily fixed. Cheers . . . David

Naturala sau nu, post-procesata sau nu, HDR sau nu, ce conteaza?
Poza este deosebita orice ar zice oricine, este o poza puternica, de aceea a si creat atitea discutii.
Eu as fi zis ca ai folosit mult dodging si burning in Photoshop dar dupa cum vad ai editat poza in Picassa 3...cel putin ultima varianta:)
Asta nu are importanta, oricum. Mie imi place mult si trebuie sa constat ca ai facut progrese uriase in tehnica fotografica.

What a dramatic and beautiful image. The back light is great. Captured at just the right moment. The clouds are menacing and add movement. The composition is well seen with the sun balancing the ship. The colors are beautiful. This is a very evocative image. I like it a lot.

Powerful and sculptural. The boat is beautiful and would be a masterful sculpture should the appropriate artist choose to take in on. But even before that, it would seem a skilled photographer had already seen the beauty. Your work is some of my favorite on the site. You understand texture as a setting in itself and how to use color and light (ultimately the same thing) to inject the emotion. I do agree with Dougie in that I would have like more foreground to place the boat more firmly in it's setting but still wonderful as-is. I almost want the gold in a greedy way. Bravo!

Excellent point of view, wonderful gold of the sky and the mysterious vessel make my eyes gaze at this picture.

Hi Anellise,

Very good picture there, looks like a painting. colours are soft but contrast is very good and despite the back light, the boat remains well exposed and detailed.
Panoramic framing is the good choice for me as it magnifies this "end of the world" sky.
Finally a strong atmosphere emerges from your picture : loneliness and desolation with a touch of hope brought by this ray of light.
