Before attempting flight, you must learn to jump.

High up and far above. Unsheltered, unprotected, untouched. Rough and tough, yet elementally beautiful. Iceland.

A tribute to the shelter that carried us across this magnificent land, yet also to the shelter that served as our protection in the roughest winds, rains, the cold and desert storms, through night and day.

Up above Bolungarvík is a NATO radar base.
Although the sign below the hill says that it is forbidden to go there, our local friend told us to not pay attention to it and go check out the scenery anyhow. So we did.
Stingahlið offers an amazing view on the northern West Fjords, and mirrors the perpendicular falls of Graenahlið and Straumnesfjall, in the style of the famous Hornbjarg in the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve. What an impressive feeling to be staring into nothing right in front of your feet!
Here we stopped to (me) take pictures of some interesting mineral formations and (him) to peer into the wide open space that the valley behind Bolungavík offered our eyes.

I enhanced the contrast and darkened the image a bit (it was so bright!).

Es sieht tatsächlich aus, als würde der "Orange-man" jetzt ohne Regenjacke überlegen ob er springen soll oder nicht.

Salut Julia,
une vue simple qui laisse notre imagination travaillé, que peux bien admirer cet homme accroupi par terre...
J'aime beaucoup le fait que tout soit vide après le chemin, rien d'autre que le camion et cet homme, c'est simple (je me répète, mais j'aime çà.

Hi Julia, I haven't told you, but this is one of the picures that impressed me most in your exhibition. It is a quite "simple" composition, but still has so much to say ... just like it a lot. Of course it's best viewed live at the exhibition ;-)

A fine minimalism full of thoughts. The low triangle of gravel combined with a big open sky is a fine choice in your composition. That also goes for the placing of both the man and the car in the same corner while leaving the rest as "negative space" (Hate that expression as I find it quite positive to have some of it in a picture. Hrmpff!)

I love the simplicity in this picture, it looks like the road has nothing on the end and people can fall down easily! The blue solid sky is very nice and I like the crouching person and vehicle as the subjects.

I like this one because it is so simple. Although, there is not much details in it, I stared at it for a while because it let my imagination loose...You composed perfectly the smal amount of information ou had to put in this one, nice!!

Simplicty captured so well. Iceland is one of the countries I would definitely like to visit, but on my Royal Enfield Bullet from India, on road ;-)

Dear Julia,
it's a simple image, yes but your fresh and lively note lead us inside the image so I can imagine the view.
It must be a beautiful place!
