Photographer’s Note

A scene along the coast to the north of Húsavík in northeast Iceland. To the north of this lonely beach (to the right in the photo) is the open sea and the polar circle cutting through the small island of Grímsey. On the other side of the bay, the mountains of Viknafjöll stands tall. Just a few days before this photo was taken, the coast of Grímsey was hit by sea ice drifting in from the north.

Wow, very nice and impressive photo! I have seen lots of photos with lonely boats, but here is not only a lonely boat, but also a very impressing and dramatic landscape. The sky, the waves, the moutains, the all match very well here. One of my favos.

Great composition. Like the cold atmosphere. Nice contrast between the grey and white clouds with a little bit of blue peaking though. It would have been perfect with more light on the boat and earth in the foreground.

Beautiful capture - excellent composition. The feel of the this place really comes out of your image. The sky is spectacular, and your exposure has caught it well, without sacrificing the detail in the rest of the picture.
