Svartifoss is not one of the highest or largest waterfalls on Iceland, but I think it is one of the most beautiful. The basalt lava formations in the mountain wall looks man made and are an impressive and almost surreal sight.
The waterfall is located in the beautiful Skaftafell nationalpark and there is more to see in the park. The nature is beautiful, lush and green, by the mountain foot it almost appears like rainforest (very not-icelandic), in the park you can discover parts of the Vatnajökull glacier, lots of beautiful falls and you can trek several different trekking paths.
This day the waether was not very good. Sight was about 50-100 metres and the whole mountain and waterfall was upp in the clouds. Therefor the picture is not as clear as I wanted and the sky is white.

Tech- Resized and cropped for TE, levels and saturation is slightly adjusted. USM.

Encore une photo qui me réconforte dans mon envie de visiter l'Islande, le pays le plus dense en site photographiques au km˛.
Dommage que les conditions météos n'étaient pas des meilleures.

Hi Frida - back to Iceland's gorgeous nature with this impressive waterfalls photo. The lava formations in the face of the wall not only make a well-textured background, but also seem to echo the "waterfall shape" to a certain extent. The foreground with the rocks and the framing greenery makes a good intro. Too bad about the weather but the sight as such is inspiring enough to not worry about it :-) Well done.

Hi Frida, a beautiful nature shot from Iceland, I think I've already seen a closer look some weeks ago here, this one shows it with surroundings and it's superb, I like the river bed taking us to the waterfall and the catch of the water movement. Not the best weather of course, but at least you can say it's the genuine one !

I like the fact that the waterfall is centered here. It gives a more important graphic aspect to the image, with the equivalent triangles of green in the two sides.
The point of view from the bottom is really impressive, well seen.

Great textures, sharpness and light.Very good colors and good contrast between them.Good POV and prespective.I like the fact that the waterfall is centered here.Well done!

The shape of rocks is amazing. This place look so beautiful and alive thanks to all this green around. Another great picture from Iceland.

Hi Frida. Another beautiful shot from iceland. The bad weather doesn't harm your composition as it creates a certain atmosphere. I like this impressive rock formation which forms the background. In combination with the waterfall and your POV it gives a great effect.

Immagine stupenda, sintomo del tempo che passa, dell'acqua che col suo paziente lavoro riesce a sbriciolare anche le rocce piů dure!

All these textures on the rock, it's like a curtain. Dark, rough, heavy. I like the foreground, fresh with the wet stones and the green grass. A pity of the weather, but we cannot always have what we want on the moment.
Nice landscape from you, my friend...

Lovely image Frida!
Your point of view is great from the middle of the river, leading the eye to the cliff and its lovely waterfall.
The rock formation does look amazing, it must have been a great place to visit. Another of your photo's that inspires me to go to this often forgotten island.
Well done!

AHHH!
amazing nature!
amazing rocks!
thanks a lot for posting it,Frida, very well captured with a great composition, nicely done, and colors are real with a fine haze in top which I like,...great,Frida.
Sincerely
Mohammad

Hi Frida,
The basalt lava shpes in the rocls are wonderful. I like the way that the two sideed are leaning towards the center, and the way that the water falls on rocks. Despite the weather, you got a nice shot out of it.

I love your wide view of this place, Frida. Beautiful details of the basalt collums and saturated greens. I hope to visit this place when I return to Iceland.

I come from a country below the equator, where everything is green and any thing with the word ice, like Iceland, is exactly what it is. Ice. This is, beside a learning experience seeing this photo, it is just as much worthy of a photojournalist/nature photography. While the basalt rocky stream is flanked by green shrubberies, the basalt cliff face formed an arena. Thank you and Merry Christmas Frida

That's funny, I have almost exactly the same picture, taken I guess from the little wood bridge above the river ! We had exactly the same kind of bad weather when we were here !
Good job, I just wish the waterfall was not such centered in the composition,
Regards,

Vincent
