This is Brennisteinsalda in the well known area of Landmannalaugar. The mountain is an old volcano, and you can climb up to its top, about 900 metres above the sea level. From up there you can enjoy a majestic view over the whole area. All what you can see in this picture is a product of volcanic activity. The blue smoke is a geothermal source.

You show us a truly amazing place - a bit threatening, but very beautiful. These colours in the landscape are really breathtaking. I like the composition here with these dark rocks in the foreground which create a wonderful contrast to the volcano's cone. Great!
