This image was taken from the coastal walking track between Hellna and Arnarstapi.
"In 1979 a total of 58 hectares of the coast at Arnarstapi and Hellnar were declared protected areas. The surf has sculpted strange cliff formations there. The source of the Hellnahraun lava field is a crater near Jokulhals, now covered by the glacier. The estimated age of the lava field is 3,900 years."
"Stapafell is a volcanic mountain on the south side of Snæfellsjökull. This palagonitic pyramide is 526 m in height and rather eroded at the sides.
On the top of the mountain is Fellskross, which was a sign of holy powers at the times of the vikings. It is said that the mountain is home of hidden people, also called elves."

I don't know yet this area of Iceland but this will be on program for my next trip to Iceland (in 2015 I hope). The mountain looks very strange, quite not natural I must say. You had a very beautiful light, it illuminates the green tones of the picture and makes a nice contrast with the dark and beautiful sky.
Have a nice day,

Iceland a place I have never visited but, recently, has had a lot of coverage on TE. This gives me a good impression of the countryside, its lava covered hills and its building style. The features are strongly placed and you have good leads.
The light is very intense, I just wonder if maybe the contrast is a little high.
Have a lovely day,

Hello Trevor ,

with the hills in the shade and the lush vegetation bathed in the lovely luminous light there is range of tones and colours to enjoy.
The composition also works well for me with the house nicely placed in the frame.
Lovely use of an exceptional light.

This landscape with its rather strange looking mountain looks as if it could be a scene from the Lord of the Rings. I like very much how you have framed the shot making an interesting juxtaposition between the house and the mountain. The light is quite superb giving the landscape a sculptured look and resulting lots of interesting green tones. Clarity is very good indeed. Thanks for sharing.

The A framed blue roofed house makes a fine focal point. Good sharpness and nice warm cold color contrasts between the yellow green grass and grey blue clouds in the sky. The dark foreboding volcanic peak adds drama and a good graphic element. Tfs!

hello trevor. fabulous july light on iceland, you should be very lucky. this icelandic landscape is weird but attractive like a magnet at the same time. that red/blue house next to a volcanic hill is like an ode to desolation.

Hi Trevor, fantastic image with the strong saturated colors and the fresh and crispy look.

what a wonderful image! The place looks just fascinating and the light here is just amazing. I suppose Iceland mid-summer is green but this is just a vivid shade. Love the moody sky and the little blue roofed house is a nice addition, but it is they imposing mountain that is the star here. Superb!
Regards - B.

An excellent landscape with lovely greens and a cute blue construction. The black hill in the background creates a great effect against the dramatic sky.
Really well done, Trevor, Tfs,

wow what a stunning view.love the separation and the layers created by different light zones.great colors, and the bright blue makes this pic extra attractive.

Do you think the colour may be a tad OTT? It certainly is a dramatic photograph, so perhaps the very saturated colour helps that effect. I think it's the blue roof that sticks out too much for me but I have to admit that it counterbalances the bulk of the black mountain rather well. Nicely composed.

that´s truly delightful!
Of course the landscape itself is beautiful enough, but I like equally the light and the way it affects th ewhole scene and color scheme of it!
These different green shades look magnificent and this little blue house contrasting so nicely to the surrounding.
Have a nice day

The vibrant colours really are eye-catching Trevor but what works for me here is the light and the fantastic contrast. The landscape has a real 3D quality and lovely textural look. The blue house echoes the shape of the mountain and there is a lovely compositional connection between the two elements. Attractive work. Warm regards Rosemary

Belle capture d'un endroit tranquille, avec juste ce qu'il faut de lumière et de couleur.
