Photographer's Note

Iceland's only windmill is on the island of Vigur in Ísafjarðardjúp at 66.055692, -22.828903.Built in 1840 it was in operation until 1917. The windmill was used for grinding imported wheat from Denmark. Note that the location is not far outside the Arctic circle (lat 66° 33′ 44″).
In fact Iceland lies between latitudes 63°N and the Arctic circle. At the equivalent latitudes in the Southern Hemisphere, you will find the Antarctic Peninsular; a projection of the Antarctic continent landmass to about latitude 63°S.
Reykjavík is the capital and largest city of Iceland. Its latitude, at 64°08' N, makes it the world's northernmost capital of a sovereign state.
