In addition to a replica Viking longship, Íslendingur (the Icelander), which sailed across the north Atlantic to North America in 2000, the Smithsonian Institution’s exhibition Vikings - The North Atlantic Saga is also on show here, after having travelled to many North American cities in 2000-2002.
The exhibition aims to provide insight into the journeys of Norse seafarers to the New World (Vínland) around 1000 AD, as well as other Viking travels in the North Atlantic and the settlement of Iceland around 870. A clear depiction is given of life aboard a Viking ship, based upon the experience of Gunnar Marel Eggertsson, who built the longship Íslendingur and has been her skipper for the past fifteen years. The Viking ship, now on dry land, can be seen at any time of day, all year round, only five minutes away from the Leifur Eiríksson international airport. A new exhibition building is in preparation to house the ship Íslendingur and the Viking exhibition; it is scheduled to open in the autumn of 2008.

Hi Mark,
I didn't know this "langskip" reproduction although I passed 12 times at Keflavik airport.
Your point of view is excellent. Nice composition and bright colors.
