Photographer’s Note
Photograph of an area just outside the blue lagoon, near to keflavik in South-Western Iceland. See this photo for a view inside the lagoon.
The blue lagoon is probably Iceland's biggest tourist attraction, and consists of a large pool of deep blue water which comes straight out of the ground and is the temperature of a hot bath. The heat comes from the geo-thermal activity under the ground, and the silica's and minerals in the water are said to be good for a variety of health problems.
This photo is taken from just outside the entrance to the lagoon complex - in the lava fields of the area. Unfortunately due to the time of year & the light the whole picture came out with a blue tint - although strangely enough the water itself looked much bluer in real life!!
