Photographer’s Note
"It's soccertime, baby", hundreds of millions of wives and girlfriends will hear this statement tonight all over the globe, as the final match of the Champions League between Barcelona and London's Arsenal takes place in Paris.
Not to mention the incoming World Cup in Germany next month.
And that "soccer fever" reaches even the remotest parts of the world. Consider the weird location of this "soccer monument": it is in tiny Vestmannaeyjar (pop. 4,500), an island off the coast of Iceland (3 hours by ferry).
I place the "monument" at the center of the frame, such an important issue shouldn't be off-center, surely not today!

Hahahahaha.
A very humorous shot, Daniel.
I would preffer to off center the ball, because it is so distinct from the surroundings, you can place it anywhere and compositionally is possibly better to put it more to the left or right. But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong...

I agree with the previous comment about prefering the soccer ball to be off-center, to improve the composition. Right now you've got the mountain, and immediately in front of it the ball, all centered. I do like the idea and the note, as well as the colours and sharpness in your photo.
All the best,
Gerd

I think the position of the ball in relation to the mountain is fine, but can't decide if a right side crop would be beneficial as the building doesn't really add to the image. Good DOF and focus as all is sharp.
Who will you be cheering for?

Hi Daniel,
Fantastic! The monument in form of soccer ball is spectacular and very great. Fitted the photo very well, with the ball in the center of the image, and a beautiful mountain behind. The colors are very pretty, the sky was calm and blue, something difficult in Iceland, and lighting is perfect.
Yes, today it's football time, baby.

Josep

Such an odd looking monument, it seems so out of place! It doesn't matter that the ball is in the centre of the shot, I think the viewpoint is good anyway. An appropriate posting for the day that's in it :)

Hi Daniel!
Are you a big football supporter? Judging by the position that the "huge" ball takes in your comp. (in the center) and the perspective of it against the rock behind, I may say you are! (and certainly are the people from Heimaey :)))
A very interesting image and quite funny for me!
Enjoy the match tonight :)

Hi Daniel
I don't think there could a more opportune day photo. The backdrop of the hill is amazing. Nice contrasts & I certainly don't mind the central placement

Hi Daniel
You fooled me far a while - For me it looked like a close up af that ball. A fine way to give us a hint of the time to come - I like the background as well, quite amazing nature to watch.

Hi daniel,
nice capture of this huge ball.
Ussually I don't like to see the main subject of the image centered in the composition...but in this one work well.
Nice colours and sharpness-

Hi Daniel,
Well, I simply can't let this one pass!
Great sense of humor and sharp photo and note (and altogether something that I would not have expected to see Iceland, I mean, that size!).

i´m not such a great soccer-lover and i will
try to avoid the city when cologne hosts its
5 championsship games next month,
but your shot is great, daniel! :-)
looks like a painted gas-"balloon" or something
like that. *g*
nice landscape and colors surrounding the ball.
well seen & done, thor.

Bonjour Daniel,
Je ne suis pas une fan de soccer, mais votre composition est très bien réalisée. J'aime voir l'usure sur le balon et la terre qui y est restée collée.
Bien vu.
