This photo was taken more or less exactly one year after this one at the same site.
Also this time it was storming but due to temperatures above freezing no ice had formed beneath the fall.
Thanks for all the comments! It was an awesome sight and I´m glad I managed to mediate that to all of you...

Frederic, when the page was loading with this image I thought nice but..... and then I saw the tiny bench on the edge of the land, and this really makes the picture for me.
Simple and splendid, calming and powerfull.

Great picture! The bench makes it...gives the whole thing a great sense of scale that would otherwise make the picture very flat. I did not make it to this waterfall in Iceland, but I hope to next time. Thanks!

Very, very nice...Man I wish I could see this waterfall. Great job on captureing the mood, tone, and feeling. I love the composition with the small park bench. Very well done!

The little bench before this enormous water makes it.
Proxilva (2157) 2004-10-12 15:14
......... this is amazing!!
the idea of the scale is very well captured
Ilike the placing of the bech in the middle of the falling water... it's a peaceful image but it has so much tension of a thundering noise!! great

I added this to the theme on benches, looks to me like nobody can ever post a lonely bench picture again after this :o)
The low key is well used here with lovely tones of blue and green. The little piece of land with its surprising bench are a fine foreground to the heavy waterspill.

I just didn't know before opening if it was water or a kind or vortex...
The bench gives all the sense to this picture !

Great shot Fredrik. The seat on the bottom gives us a good idea of the size of teh fall.
The composition is very good.
miguel (1912) 2004-10-12 19:56
Very well done Fredrik. The bench and the zooming make it all... Nice colors too...

Fearfull, frightening, impressive...
The bench in front gives a good measure for the enormity of the waterfall.
Wouldn't you blow away there ?

Super photo le banc donne une dimension à l'image, avant de le voir, je trouvais celà sans intéret et dès l'aaparition de cet élément j'ai trouvé l'image grandiose.

What a powerful feeling this must be to be in front of such spectacle.
It's surprising that a so small detail, the bench, have a so great impact in the composition.
One of my favorites.

Wow, Fredrik. This is excellent.
Normally Seljalandsfoss is small, and "petite". In this shot it is wild and powerful. The storm is amazing.
The dark green surroundings are beautiful, but what make this picutre superb is that lonely bench.
Wonderful, powerful and simple composition.
I love it. Impressive work.
markogts (1130) 2004-10-18 13:17
I like the detail of the bench, so small in comparison to the waterfall. Strange colours.

The small bank shows me the enormous power off the waterfall. The bank is absolutely necessary.

Is fantastic... and the chair? With that chair seems something very... we seem very little.
Thank you for share.

Fredrik, I am really surprised about the difference in those 2 pictures. I am surprised to see that it is still nicely green in October. Fantastic shot. The bench really gives scale and size. L.

Fantastic picture. The small seat facing the Falls is the key to its success. What a big success. Congratulations ..

Tremendous power of nature. Should have been quite loud there. Iceland is lucky for being granted a lot of wild earth. And as a photographer, u evaluate it well.

Like a curtain in a theater, opening for a spectacular show.

Hi Fredrik, Powerful capture of this natural situation. The one man-made element, the seat, seems so tiny against the water and landscape. Very effective indeed. TFS. Murray
